If you had run this on Thursday or Friday, I would have been in. Can't do it on Sat though, so hopefully it goes well and you can run it again sometime. I love the concept!

A lot depends on the mission. Also, many lists will have more generics. There are some missions where losing ships costs you quite a bit in points. Others have a lot of obstacles (like 10). Then again, some are jousting and Tie Swarms can do well. No Howlrunner hurts them, too. Well, there will be one Howlrunner, but if she dies....
For those of you interested in participating in our Gen Con Narrative Event, I would like to pass along a little information. Some of you may have noticed that the Part 1 event listing is no longer on the website.
Part 1 has been sent back to our gaming group Event Organizer for edits and Gen Con admin approval. We hope it will be back up and available for wish list selection before tickets go on sale Sun.
Gen Con has requested that this X-Wing Narrative Event be split into two Parts/Events, even though it will be played as one continuous event. As I understand things, players will purchase a ticket for Part 1 (and only for Part 1), and that ticket will reserve a spot in Part 2. Gen Con is telling us that it will be up to the player to ensure they do not double book themselves for the time slot Part 2 will cover.
As a reminder, the Narrative Event is NOT an elimination tournament, so all players will be flying in all 4 rounds of the complete event. With the way Gen Con is splitting this up, the complete event will occur over both Parts, so players should plan for that.
Prizes will be awarded to players with the most points at the conclusion of the event, so it is beneficial to participate in the entire event. Not to mention you will get the full experience by doing so. Phil's missions are something special, no point in only getting a portion of the experience!
If you want to participate in the Narrative, expect to have a full day of exciting X-Wing action with loads of other players. An 8am start on Sat and we will run until we are done, taking lunch and dinner breaks between rounds. We think we will be done no later than 10pm, but perhaps as early as 8pm.
As of the time this is posted, Part 2 is still on the event list and visible via the web interface. I suspect this will change at some point, but this is pure speculation on my part.
If you happen to know of folks interested in playing or have seen information posted on other sites, I would greatly appreciate it if you would spread the word about what is going on.
We did a great job advertising and promoting this event (check out the audio drama if you have not heard it yet), and the back end just didn't come together as nicely as I wanted it to. I appreciate everyone's patience and hope everyone that wants to participate will get in.
FYI, as of right now the only thing in the catalog is, oddly, Part II.
Ouch. This is going to make things difficult.
ok, so if all goes to plan I book part one and ONLY part one.... Right?

We're running some other X-wing events on friday and thursday - look for our trench run and ISD scenarios on those days. Plus mariokart and casual games
Yeah as I said can't do Saturday either, hope to stop by Thursday or Friday and at least play in the trench run event, sounds awesome.

I am planning on playing in some of them; I'll find out tomorrow if I get in. ![]()
Great! Good luck!
GenCon is hard at work. Both parts are now 404 errors. Here's hoping the good one returns before I need to head off to the shop.
I clicked send on a final update a short time ago to the two Parts that will comprise our Narrative Event. These edits were requested by Gen Con. Gen Con is expecting my response and should post the two Parts sometime soon.
Event # NMN17109079 is for Part 1, which is the one you want to have on your wish list. A ticket for Part 1 gives you a reservation for Part 2. You ONLY need to put Part 1 on your wish list and purchase a ticket for Part 1 only.
Part 2 will not have any tickets available - it is simply a placeholder. Ticket holders for Part 1 will have a seat at Part 2.
The Narrative Event is live once again on Gen Con's event website.
You are free to add it to your wish list now!
I'm going to bring a list or two I have been playing around with so if folks want to try and get together for some casual play I'm all for. I'm hoping to get into the trench run but working a booth with my friend might not be able to play, will defiantly get over to watch, where in the mini are you guys going to be??

We will be hanging out in Hall B, closer to the wall that is near Maryland St.
We are associated with the gaming group 19&One, so you should be able to find their HQ on maps displayed at the convention.
I'm also working on a special sign that should be easy to spot and easily recognizable, so keep your eyes open for that as well.
We have plenty of Casual B-Team & Epic Battles events scheduled that are meant to be pick-up style events. A ticket to these events puts you at a table in our area with other like-minded X-Wing pilots. Play with whomever is across the table or move around fighting different players for the duration of the event.

The whole things is up an running. I'm all signed up.
Smasher Squadron reporting for duty!! We find those Rebel scum, no matter where their base is. . .
I'm in. Submitted at the stroke of 9 AM, and still almost 6000th for processing! Sheesh.
Anyway, heads up for anybody who gets shut out: I might have an extra ticket. I got two, as I'm travelling with a a couple of other casual X-Wing players. But there's a decent chance both will be busy on Saturday (or not want to commit the whole day).
If that's the case, I'll make a post by Friday afternoon, here on FFG, that the ticket is available.
I'm in. Got notified from home just as the first round started.
Now I need to figure out a Rebel list that will beat Smasher Squadron somehow...

Might as well keep all questions and clarifications to this event in the same place for reference so here are a few from me after reading the rules packet.
1) Page 2 - Overview - second paragraph
Players will play on one of two teams aligning with either the Rebel Alliance or the Imperial Navy. Each side will include mercenary forces using the Scum & Villainy faction's forces in addition to their own.
Question: This line, combined with the very Imperial/Rebel focused banned list, suggests that players are allowed to take generic scum ships in their rosters of Imperial/Rebel forces. Is this the intent? It's not explicit, so just asking for clarity.
2) Page 3 - Squadron Rosters - Elite Pilot Talents: 2nd Paragraph
If you draft a unique pilot... ...you may also assign a new EPT to that pilot. Any legal EPT may be selected.
Question: Does the EPT need to be budgeted for in the 250 squad points? Or is this EPT effectively free?
3) Page 10 - What to Bring - You will 6 need Debris tokens
Nuts. Full warning, unless something dramatic happens, I don't have any at all. Decimator/YT2400 are not on my buy list. I do have the debris tokens from epic though... I assume these are NOT acceptable, but it is a more 'casual' type tournament so I thought I'd throw that out there.
I hope you guys get to grab pics and video record some of these set-up and some of the action. This looks like so much fun; it's a real Star Wars game!! Congrats!!
The recent story Podcast was awesome too!!
First off....I can't wait for this event! It will be really cool to meet everyone. My only apology will be that I'll probably be really busy running the event and won't be able to chat as much as I want.

No.....you can't take Scum and/or Villainy in your regular list. What Phil means when he says that is you have to pick one of the three normal Factions in the game. Scum faction can play for either Rebels (called Scum) or the Imperials (called Villainy).
Also, if you bring 2 different faction lists, you get a bump in the Draft system. So, if you aren't sure if you want to play Rebels or Scum, then you can take 2 lists and whichever one you get put into, you get a higher starting position in the Draft for uniques.
ahhh.....will answer the rest in a minute. Gotta run to a meeting.

No worries or panic. Still 70 days away. Thanks!
And no - scum is not something I will be flying. I own like 6 ships. Just clarifying.

2) Yes. Yes, it does.
3) If you don't have Debris Fields.....we will manage. Others should have some and I will have all my stuff....just in case. If too many people are short on them, I'm not sure what we will do. They are primarily needed for one mission, which everyone only has a 50% chance of getting it. So...probably not a big deal.
Oh, and Episode 3 of the Audio Drama is out!
I have a question about non-uniques. I know the EPT is assigned to them permanently. If they are killed in battle and replaced in the hangar, do they lose their initial EPT?
