C-ROC Finally Has An Official Release Date - 6/8
12 hours ago, piznit said:Out of curiousity, let's just use today as an example, does the rest of the world say (more often) it's "the 23rd of May" or do you say "May 23rd"?
Speaking on behalf of the rest of the world, I would usually say 'the 23rd of May', but sometimes 'May the 23rd'.
****!!!
I'm waiting this since months!
And you pull it out meanwhile new 40k is coming!
Meh...I will miss the Croc for now.
The Syck won't change the meta. The Arc Caster Cannon won't effect anything really.
Jabba, whilst decent, won't effect the meta in the same way as Threepio or Palp did. You may start seeing GlitterSabine (four glitterstims yo!) with a YV wingman but even that won't be too groundbreaking.
So with that being said, an Epic ship which will actually impact the Epic scene more than the 100/6 scene is quite refreshing.

Yup, it's 23rd of May in Poland ("23ci Maja" in polish). Day-> Month -> year makes sense, becouse it's ascending order and most of the world respect that. Month -> Day -> year is some kind of fluctuation.

1st line:
Cartel Spacer
Tansarii Point Veteran
Sunny Bounder
Inaldra
Quinn Jast
Genesis Red
C-ROC cruiser
2nd line:
6x Light Scyk Interceptor (title)
2x Supercharged Power cells (cargo)
Quick-Release Cargo Locks (cargo)
????? could be a new cargo, hard point or team
Heavy Laser Turret (hard point)
Cikatro Vizago (crew)
Azmorigan (epic crew)
Jabba the Hutt (crew)
3rd line:
5x Pulsed Ray Shield (mod)
Automated Protocols (mod)
Optimized Generators (mod)
Flechette cannon (cannon)
Broken Horn (title)
Insatiable Worrt (title)
Merchant One (title)
Damage deck: we don't know the composition of the deck and the effect of some of the cards. Even if the names are identical to previous epic ship damage decks, it doesn't guarantee that their effects are exactly the same (it has been observed between the corvette and raider, for example)
Dial: no information about it, but it's plausible it'll be between the transport and the gozanti since its squad points cost is in between.
Something is missing in this list, there are 30 small cards in the photo, but in this list only 25... I think it is the 5x arc weapon. Also I cannot find where did he found 2x Supercharged Power cells (cargo) and Quick-Release Cargo Locks (cargo). Anyone knows?

Agreed. Hopefully it sells well enough that FFG actually bothers with the epic ships instead of just using them as a money grab when offering "fixes" or something powerful for 100/6.

European Championship does have a team Epic side event, so . . progress!
"Finally has a release date."
Six months since release is fast for X wing. I remember when the Tantive and Transport were announced at GenCon in August 2013 and didn't release until late May. Or the Raider, which also took 8-9 months to reach the shelf.
Kids today...
I am excited for this release. I am ready to try out the Arc Caster on a few M3-A Interceptors.
My LGS said its C-ROCs were expected next week, along with, they hoped ... K-wings.

Depends on which information is emphasized
eg. if it occurs within the month, I'd be more likely to go eg. 23rd May, if right now we are in May
eg. If it occurs later, ie. right now is about Jan / Feb, I'd be more likely to go May 23rd

Oh God, I hope K-Wings aren't coming.

As a computer scientist, I'll say that it's horrible and different everywhere.
Though there'd be an ISO standard, only computer scientists adhere to it, and everybody else mixes months, days, and years, as they see fit, and occasionally omits the century.

This is the prime reason why for nearly every date input field you have on the web, you also have a datepicker beside it.
It is to make sure that the guys who coded the user interface know how to interpret the users' mess.

I do hope that all was tongue in cheek. There's no need to standardize our language to the point of banality. :/
piznit, for me I think it's generally just 'the 23rd,' 'of May' then appended if the other person gets confused, or 'June 23' for another month. I write it as 23 May 2017, after the convention of my discipline, though that's unusual.

Slightly. What date is the 12.10.11 exactly?
I live in Switzerland, so our customers obviously expect it to be the 12th of October 2011. Everybody living in the US would obviously say it's the 10th of December 2011. Without context, there's no way of telling whether it's either of those, or a date in October or November of 2012. Why does there need to be such a cause for misunderstanding? What exactly is banal about people being able to understand each other?

To me, a nightmare, because I live in Canada, so I want it to be the one, but have to check if the American meaning is intended and it's the other.
I agree that people are obliged to communicate clearly -- without imposition on style, which is context-dependent. It was just the idea of a technical format being imposed on all other writing, and, apparently, speech, that bothered me. Not, however, a big deal.

Oh, I don't really care about speech. It's the written word I'm worried about.
Of course, I'm biased, because I've wasted days of my life configuring frameworks and writing parsing code to make sure that every date input works the way the customers expect it to

Sure, that does sound aggravating. It would be nice if everyone put the three time scales in the same order at least. But 23 May 2017's pretty clear, and flows well in extended writing, so it's what I use.
Anyway, C-ROCs, yeah ... I think it's my favourite-looking Epic ship. I can't afford to get one right now, but I look forward to seeing one on the table someday. Gosh, I'd like to try Genesis Red, too -- really hoping I can snag them online after it comes out, but I'm not sure I should have my hopes up.
