C-ROC Finally Has An Official Release Date - 6/8

By Dr Lucky, in X-Wing

According to the Upcoming page, the C-ROC is finally off the boat and has an official release date of 6/8. The wait is almost over!

Also, I say this without sarcasm - I love when we get these releases in the middle of Store Championships season. It's a great way to mix things up.

I'm so excited to see Scum players play other ships with Mindlink lol

Weirdly I looked at the pages this morning and it updated as still on the boat just yesterday. Fast response.

Lol you think the PRS Scyk won't be using Mindlink?

I donno... I've tried out the M3-A quite a bit on Vassal trying to get it to work (both with and without PRS), and even with AM it doesn't seem to hold its weight that well. You're sitting at either a fragile 2 attack (which is meaningless most of the time) AM fodder for 16 points, or a ship with an actual weapon for 20 points + the price of the cannon... If you put PRS to help them stick around for abit, you're now talking about 29 points for an HLC version... the 4th die is definitely worth it for the investment from 26 to 29 points. To be fair, I've had moderate success with the TPV w/ HLC, AM, PRS... but I don't really think it's going to shift the meta.

No, I'm saying they will be playing other ships that also have Mindlink

I think the HLC version actually slots pretty neatly into a number of lists, I've been trying it for a while.

The one I'm most interested in trying is 4 elite Manglers - Ina/A Score to Settle (or Trick Shot), and 2 TPVs and Genesis all with Adaptability, all with Heavy, Mangler, PRS.

Not tried it yet but it seems like it could be a lot of fun.

I highly doubt that the C-ROC will 'shake up' anything, since all it includes are a couple of OK pilots, and then a couple of complete trash upgrades that will have no bearing on the meta.

Derp sorry.

I've been trying PRS Scyks a bit, and I think they're going to have more of an impact than you're expecting.

The only thing I'm excited about with it is to fly Sabine with double glitterstim's and Jabba crew on a "party bus". It will be a true party with all the glitterstim one could ask for.

I accept that I might be wrong, but self-ionisation is going to kill the card, since you leave yourself an absolute sitting duck for the following round where you will likely lose both the shield you regained and then probably some hull, too.

For 1pt, it might have been worth it. But not for 2.

That's not been my experience. It's often been better to delay the regen for a round or two and get tokenned up for the following round, but I've not had that much trouble with focus fire because they're good snipers.

Heck, I've voluntarily self-ioned even without any ability to regen on several occasions because having a 1 straight is so useful, even if it does telegraph your location.

E: I suspect oyu might be right about pricing though, I think it might well have been balanced at 1 - but I think they wanted to avoid 4 mindlink mangler PRS scyks, which would be a tough nut to crack.

I'm glad you've had success with it. But it won't 'shake up' the meta in any meaningful way, that I think we can agree on.

That's fine by me. I only play missions and HotAC style campaigns - the C-ROC might very well have a huge (lol, huge, get it?) impact for me :P .

Probably not on its own, no, but I'm also expecting an FAQ release shortly after CROC drop, so maybe that will... At the very least, Jabba doesn't work properly by RAW, they'll need to clarify what happens to any remaining tokens after he dies, and they might want to errata Genesis Red to clarify what happens when he TLs someone after he's already got more tokens than they do... BUt I'm also hoping we'll see a major bash on the Jumpmaster with the good ol' nerf bat.

We also haven't seen all the cards coming with the CROC. There's still one in there that comes in a multiple of 4 - it could be an important fix card. Impossible to say one way or the other whether there will be a huge meta impact without seeing that card.

Would of been great to get this expansion before my upcoming tournament, all though even if it was out today it would not be legal. Would love flying some Scyks!

No, there isn't. There are five Arc Casters, five Pulsed Ray Shields, six Light Scyk titles, and the remainder is Epic cards. We know the entirety of the C-ROC's contributions to the main game, and they are minimal.

Nope, there is one card exact we don't know yet

Would Pulsed Ray Shield s really make TIE/FO broken? Would it kill FFG to give Imps little bit of regen?

Where is it located on the preview image?

Let's review the spread in: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/3/27/jabba-the-hutt/

1st line:

  • Cartel Spacer

  • Tansarii Point Veteran

  • Sunny Bounder

  • Inaldra

  • Quinn Jast

  • Genesis Red

  • C-ROC cruiser

2nd line:

  • 6x Light Scyk Interceptor (title)

  • 2x Supercharged Power cells (cargo)

  • Quick-Release Cargo Locks (cargo)

  • ????? could be a new cargo, hard point or team

  • Heavy Laser Turret (hard point)

  • Cikatro Vizago (crew)

  • Azmorigan (epic crew)

  • Jabba the Hutt (crew)

3rd line:

  • 5x Pulsed Ray Shield (mod)

  • Automated Protocols (mod)

  • Optimized Generators (mod)

  • Flechette cannon (cannon)

  • Broken Horn (title)

  • Insatiable Worrt (title)

  • Merchant One (title)

Damage deck: we don't know the composition of the deck and the effect of some of the cards. Even if the names are identical to previous epic ship damage decks, it doesn't guarantee that their effects are exactly the same (it has been observed between the corvette and raider, for example)

Dial: no information about it, but it's plausible it'll be between the transport and the gozanti since its squad points cost is in between.

Man, bad time to be given your 2 week notice before being let go! I might have to sell some plasma...

Thanks @Mu0n729 . I think that isn't a flechette cannon though. Think it is the heavy scyk title. ;)

Hoping that card isn't just for epic, but if it is, that's fine too though. Either way I love when they keep things hidden until release.
