Death Ship

By GandofGand, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So I started talking about this idea on our Fires Across the Galaxy FB Page; An entire campaign that takes place aboard a Super-Star Destroyer.

The initial idea was for a multi-table battle interactive event as part of a rescue mission (Won't spoil the details for those that may want to experience the campaign later.). But thinking about it, SSD's are literal flying cities and there could be SO many different stories to tell I wanted to turn it into a mini-campaign a la the "Worlds Biggest Dungeon".

Problem number #1 is I need to get some kind of Deckplans together but I can't seem to find a resource anywhere online, but I swear there was a book or some such that had full Deckplans for the SSD, if anyone knows where to find the plans can you please hook me up? Would be a big step in the right direction. I can fake it if needs be but SOME guidance would be useful.

Problem #2 is motivation....but that's on me. If I see a lot of interest I'll definitely put the effort in and be sure to share the final results as well.

Timeline-wise this would need to be set during or after the Imperial Era, my original idea was for 50 Years or so after the First Order and say that the ship was lost at some point then shows back up in some until-recently lost system or empty section of space. For EoE campaigns it could represent a massively valuable salvage case case or simple loot-worthy. For AoR Rebels it could be a race against the Empire (Or for Imperial characters a race against Rebels) to regain control of the SSD and add it to their fleet assets and for FaD characters it could be a mystery to investigate; maybe it was the Flagship of Sith Alchemist? Maybe a massive floating Laboratory? Maybe a store house for Force Artifacts? In any case easy enough to ad an "Event Horizon" type horror element.

No full deckplans. Such an undertaking would be madness.

I know Incredible Cross-Sections has a cutaway of a standard Star Destroyer, but can't recall if there's one for the SSD.

The old WEG Death Star Technical Companion had layouts of some common areas that can be assumed to also exist on Star Destroyers of all sizes.

So, I'd suggest using the cross section and the DSTC images to put together whatever areas you need for a given session.

The Far Orbit project I believe had deckplans for a Nebulon B. They did not detail evvery deck, but showed a cross section with what each deck was, then had details of the most important areas, and a sample of repetitive areas, such as crew quarters. You could scale that for an SSD.

This sounds like a cool idea for a Pandorum or Passengers style game.

Parts of Star Destroyer maps can be found here: http://thompsonpeters.com/eote/maps/

The old (old!) Dark Forces game had a level taking place on the Executor; some persistent google searching may net you a map:

Death star tech companion is your friend. The scope and scale is so large mapping out the whole thing is about as wise as pronouncing Jar-Jar Supreme Chancellor. Individual locations can be taken from there or drawn out as needed.

Also you'll have some negative space in there too. Think force awakens and how there was enough room in that super star destroyer for Rey to fly the falcon through it. And rebels and clone wars loves to show how cavernous reactor areas are...

Yeah I think I'll just have to come up with some generalized areas (reactor, barracks, kitchens etc...), and detail important sections in those areas.
