Thinking of writing a series of articles, looking for input.

By pwvogt, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I've been thinking of the best way to begin writing a review for the massive game that is the box set for WHFRPG 3rd Ed for Eye of the Vortex, and I've come to the conclusion that a multi-part review of each component set (one for each of the books and one for the cards/punch-outs) might be the way to go. I also want these articles to be a place where GM's and interested players can point their friends and fellow gamers to in order to learn more about the game in general and entice them to give it a shot.

With all that in mind, is there anything you are looking for that would be a valuable part of a review to help bring in new players, and what do you feel is missing in most reviews for the big box set?

I wouldn't write it as a review of components. That's been done to death.

How about a review of play?

Part I - We opened the box, and looked at the stuff. It took about 45 minutes to teach the game.

Part II - We generated characters. Bob wanted to play a dwarf scribe (lorekeeper) and Janine wanted to play a High Elf envoy..we knew right from the start that the party tension meter would get good use!

Part III - We talked to the barkeep at The Last Drop in the rough part of Middenheim (because there are other parts?) and tried to coerce some information out of him under duress. Here's how the social encounter played out...

Part IV - So, there we were... The dwarf was hanging from the window by his fingernails while cultists practiced throwing spears at him, whilst Janine's elf was frantically trying to pull him into the tower with her feeble strength!...

Part V - Combat ran like this...

ETC.

I also agree that i would focus on game play, character builds interesting ideas for the various cards maybe even a card breakdown the various careers pros and cons.

This sort of thing would be fantastic

Hope it help
