40th anniversary R2-D2 and IA card

By LeadBelly, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I recently picked up a copy of the 40th anniversary card with R2-D2 and Integrated Astromech combined into one at a store competition. Can I run it as just R2-D2 on Norra for example?

Casually with friends who don't mind, yes.

At a more casual tournament in a store or somewhere, probably. I'd ask the TO and make sure your opponent knows what it is.

At a major FFG event, no. You always need the correct cards for what you are using.

That is what I was figuring, thank you!

I'm not sure that this is correct. The dual card is an official FFG card; it has the full text and points costs for both sections. As long as your list was clear about which half you were using, I don't see why it wouldn't be fully legal.

As I said, at most events at stores and such, most people won't care and will allow it.

But at stricter levels of event run by FFG staff, they may say it's only usable with both sections in the list. But we shall see.

Gilarius. If you choose to use the 40th card, you are explicitly using both an astromech and a modification. You couldn't then put an different astro, or an different mod on the ship and declare one half of the 40th card inactive.
