New Article on Experience

By dewbie420, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

It's a good article. However, am I missing something?

In the section on 'The Strategist' it refers to:

"Charisma (The Essex County Express, 158) and Streetwise (Blood on the Altar, 189), both of which begin the game in play"

I don't remember anything in the rules about being able to put certain cards into play at the start of the game? What about these cards tells you that?

Both of those cards have the 'Permanent' keyword, which means they begin in play, like 'Ashcan' Pete's dog Duke, and the Indebted weakness.

Duke isn't a permanent.

I,m using streetwise, adaptable and charisma on my Jenny deck! ;) nice to start the game with plenty of cards already out.

Permanent cards also don't count toward your deck size, so you can't use them to thin out your deck.

Ah... seems like a good section of the rules hasn't bedded itself in yet. Makes sense. Thanks for the responses guys!

You're welcome.

No, but Pete says "You start the game with Duke in play."

Permanents can also never leave play for any reason. That would break Aschan, since part of his piloting requires keeping Duke alive.

The upside is it also doesn't require you to toss out a good card if you've got a tightly designed deck. This of course will be more likely once a couple of campaign cycles are out and there are more options for deckbuilding in the first place.

Sorry, I didn't mean that Duke was a permanent, just that like a permanent he begins in play, like Charisma, Streetwise, Indebted, Adaptable and others.
