A new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay will be launched by Cubicle 7 Entertainment later this year. The new edition will return players to Warhammer’s grim world of perilous adventure, and takes its direction from the first and second editions of the game.

Cubicle 7 CEO Dominic McDowall said, “Like so many gamers I grew up on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It’s an iconic setting and I’m thrilled to be working on this new edition of the game. Our team have a huge breadth of experience with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and I’m excited to be able to bring the Cubicle 7 approach to the Old World. We’ll be revealing more of our plans in the coming months, so subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye on our website!”

Please don't let it be Age of Sigmar...

It specifically mentions the Old World and 'taking directions from the first and second editions'.

I just might be getting excited about this now (though it's ultimately going to depend on what they mean by 'taking directions from').

Yeah, Age of Sigmar is specified as a different system by them to boot.

Interesting news and its good to see that the Old World will live on. :) I don't know about Age of Sigmar but since I don't know about it I wouldn't be able to tell if its going to be gold or not.

Let me quote somebody from the StS Forums who visited the Warhammer fest:

"Hey everyone, here is some news I squeezed out from the guys of C7 in Warhammer Fest concerning the future of WFRP, enjoy!

-Release date is late 2017, will be a starter set, forgot to ask if it will be a kickstarter or not
-Something will be done for TEW as it is its 30 anniversary
-Lustria book(He said:'Definitly!')
-Naggaroth book(He said:' Will make sure filling the gap of no-elf related offical material)
-No reprint for the Realm of Chaos/slave of Darkness books
-Maybe reprint of other books, still up on the air
-AoS rpg will be next year after WFRP was initially released
-D100 system, nth to do with WFRP 3rd ed
-When I ask about Nippon and Cathy, he was very enthusiatic.
As he kept saying nothing is annouced at the moment and pretty close-mouthed, that's all I could get from him"

What I really wanted from 3rd Edition WFRP was an improvement of 2nd Edition to bring it more in line with the 40K lines.

Now I may actually get it; or at least something very close.
