Hey FFG! Time for Bespin Cloud Cars!

By Hawkstrike, in X-Wing

Dear FFG:

Look, we know you're scraping for sources, when you break out the Azituck Gunship -- which as best as we can tell has been briefly in two sources, a snapshot in Rebels and the Vader comic.

Why scrape when you still have ships from primary sources? Original Trilogy ones, no less.

Take the Bespin Cloud Car -- wait, what's that you say? A thousand angry berds will rage if you put an atmospheric craft in a space dogfighting game?

I have an answer for you. That Vader comic? The canon one, where you just mined BT-1 and 0-0-0 for Imperial Assault? Well check out issue #9, illo of the station on Athan Prime as Ark Angel makes an approach. Do you see what I see? Yep, Cloud Cars in a nebula. In space.

Go ahead. Make my day.

Yours,

Hawk

We also already have another atmospheric craft in the game. The Tie Striker. So go ahead, FFG, give us more atmospheric craft. Cloud Car, snowspeeder, etc. And while you're at it, just release a compatible, same scale ground combat game as well that has ATATs, ground troops, etc. It would sell like hotcakes!

Small snowtroopers and teeny tiny taun-tauns with itty bitty Rebels please!

Where's our Ark Angel anyway?

Not to mention ffg now has a full on ground combat system with Runewars that they could port back to Star Wars!

The Problem is that most atmospheric craft would only have one attack die.

The Cloud Car, T-47, T-16, Talon-1 and V-wing just to name a few are all on the table with the Tie Striker introduction. Essentially that space background is just a placeholder for atmospheric combat now.

So what? That works fine on the HWK290! :D

But in all seriousness, I'm not sure if your statement is even true. In ESB, Han Solo seemed genuinely concerned about being attacked by 2 Cloud Cars. They were a threat to the Falcon. I'm not saying they would have won if they had actually battled it out, but I feel like they were as offensively capable as a Tie Fighter. I think 2 Attack would be appropriate. And not to mention there is tons of design space to explore with having ships with little to no primary attacks, that use missiles and cannons instead.(see Unguided Rockets)

THEN we may get the TIE Reaper.

Tie striker can go to space battle that why we have this ship !

This! This proves that we need the Cloud Car in Xwing miniatures! In the movie Rogue One, we never see the Tie Striker anywhere but in Atmosphere. But in other sources, it is stated it can also go in space. The exact same is true for the Cloud Car.

I would be OK with this.

You all mean Clown Car, right? Any Battlefrontians here?

I actually disapprove heavily of the Auzituck. I really don't care what it brings to the game, it's the same as not having the sodding missile boat premiering SLAM.

Nobody ever picks up the Cloud Car. I honestly don't really get why not? I wreck house in it.

Not just no, but **** no...

We do already have a Bespin playmat...

There are two ideas that get brought up on these forums every now and then that I deplore. The first is the introduction of prequel factions.

The second? Cloud Cars (note- CARS) and Snowspeeders (note- SPEEDERS) fighting Tie Fighters and X-wings in space. Awful, horrendous idea.

I get it whenever I see one.

Only because the Rebels would want the novelty of flying Snowspeeders and then the Imperials may actually win for once!

Same. It's not hard, cause folks just pass it up. It's great for strafing and harassing AT-ATs on Walker Assault.

I mean it ain't perfect by any means! It's NOT an incredible vehicle! But it's still pretty good, zippy and very small.

I was just really sad when the Scarif map came out and I couldn't pilot Strikers.

I want it only for fun and if both the Empire/Rebels can use it (neutral pilot ?) :P

And that would be amazing.

So TIE Striker is the atmospheric craft, Bespin Cloud Cards is the scum equivalent, Lets not forget about the Rebels.
