The Better Die: FN VS Kylo

By JoeyBriefcase, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hey all, I've been running a deck featuring Kylo, FN-2199, and a Stormtrooper, but I keep debating on which of the two I should run as an Elite. Between Kylo and FN, who would you run as the Elite?

If you have a 10/13 point slot, who would you prefer in any given deck?

Their die is very similar, with 1 range instead of a special for FN. I think the question is who has more staying power and who do you want the opponent to target first? FN is going to get weapons because of his ability, do you want to make FN elite and make sure the opponent targets him? you can do that and run a slightly bluer deck. You can also make Kylo elite for his special. I find it is hit of miss. The opponent then has to choose who to attack. one should get a few turns of attacking.

I would run elite Kylo and have my deck a more red based deck. Have some things for Kylo, so if the opponent targets FN first you can still work with kylo/trooper. Lots of redeploy.

Nines, Kylo, and Unkar.

I think if you are running Villain Command FN will be more fun.

See, I think the real question is: who do you want your opponent to target first? The two dice character will be the one that your enemy guns for, to try and get those two dice off the table. If you're playing lots of "Spot a blue character" cards, you'll want Kylo to stay alive as long as possible: run Nines with two dice, to keep the heat off Kylo. If you're planning on leveraging Nines' ability to roll out upgrades, then you'll want to run Kylo with two dice so that Nines has time to play the upgrade-spam game.

If you're just comparing dice, the comparison is between Kylo's Special and Nines' 1 Ranged. Kylo's Special has that "win big" ability, but it's very hit or miss. Nines' 1 Ranged is far more modest, but it's consistent -- and consistency wins games. On top of that, Nines' Ranged face can help you resolve modified ranged faces from your Red Weapon Upgrades.

Kylo. Nines is already going to draw heat because he's a better character, making him Elite just eliminates any question about it. I guess the alternative is to run Nines elite with the intention of him dying and have lots of Redeploy weapons, but I feel that is kind of a bad plan.

don't go elite at all, stay with 3 characters. The extra HP is a good tradeoff for the die, especially since both FN and Kylo don't have great dice. Use either Deathtrooper or Unkar for third charakter, DT for extra damage and Unkar to make use of those sides that don't deal damage and to get resources from opponents cards (and to add yellow cards to your deck - more weapons for FN, Vibroknucklers and Flamethrower are really worth it). You could go with elite FN, Nightsister and a third charakter, that way you'll get that extra FN die, run 3 characters and all colors. FN will go down first then, for sure!

Or Nines, Raider, and Dooku. Keep it all melee.

well, Radier is no sure melee and the good side cost resource. And since you will probably have ranged weapon in the deck for FN anyways it doesn't really matter if you have non melee characters.

If you really go with Dooku and Raider make sure to include the Gaffi Stick. It's special makes Dooku's die so much better and comes with redeploy, for only 2 resources :-)

I really won't have ranged in the deck with Nines, because that's not how I'd build a melee deck.

Where are you getting the idea that bringing Kylo or FN to elite requires you to forgo the third character?

10+13+7= 30

I think I'd rather have the extra health and better die of nearly anyone else than drag along an FO Trooper just to make Nines or Kylo elite.

I would agree to not run either as an elite and run a 3rd characters.
