Clan Reveal Predictions

It sounds as though the Scorpion Clan is more prominent in the opening of the story. I wonder if that means they will be showcased earlier, or reserved for later so that key story bits are spread out more in the weeks leading up to Gen Con.

My thinking is they'd keep Scorpion in deserve a bit and reveal them with the climax or build up to the story being told - as they likely know what's going on.

Fair enough. But I'm sure I'm not the only one suspecting Shizue at this point. ?

It was Shizue in the gardens with the CAT!

The Kachiko love section was only to divert attention (from both Hotaru and the reader)!!

I am sure she has plenty of good reasons.

"Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the storyteller extraordinaire
"

Bad joking aside, it would be an interesting story twist. We are talking about a character that pulled a Chuda Ruri pretty face back in Hidden Emperor, without apparent maho.

I hope that FFG gives us the new mons as extra avatars too. More diversity in the avatar section of L5R would be most welcome.

Two for two and the box art and story theories have been debunked!

Anyone else care to make a guess for the remaining 5?

I think Scorpion is probably next. Though I could also see them being last, because I think it's possible that :

A. Akodo Arasou is dying in the Lion fiction
B. His death is changed so that the circumstances are mysterious like Satsume's death
C. Various other bad things happen to the other clans
D. All of this is the Scorpion laying the groundwork for the Coup.

So the intro fictions would be building up to the Scorpion being revealed as the initial villain of the story.

I think Phoenix is either last or second-to-last, since their play-style seems like it will differ the most from the other clans.

Mantis

Spider

Ratling

Brotherhood

Spirit

I think the Unicorn will be next, because 1) their relationship to the Lion is a plot point, 2) they probably don't want to blow all three of the Emperor's Hands right out the gate, and 3) they've said they want to leave the AEG era behind, forging a new path forward, and AEG was never one to throw us alphabetically-last Unicorn a bone when Reveals Season rolled around.

Still a little bitter at them for stealing our spot in Onyx.

My guess I've stolen from someone else. The order of the first article, Crane, Lion, Unicorn (stopped paying attention after that)

I have given up on lorg term predictions, my guess is that after Lion we will see the Scorpion, since after left and right hand it seems fitting to also have the underhand.

At least with Lion, they will bother to mention the Unicorn in the fiction this time. And maybe the also ignored Phoenix.

From the cards point of view, I dread a 12 week waiting to see my clan. But at least we are fully playable, unlike that clan mentioned in the Crane fiction...:P

I'd be surprised if Unicorn are last - that's totally an AEG thing and I think FFG is keen to prove they're not AEG!

True, but if it is not me waiting 12 weeks, it will be someone else who prefers another clan. To a point I would prefer being the one doing the waiting.

Did you forget in many case previews were started from Unicorn (reversed), or in totally random order?

I think this is also likely because then the first three clans previewed will be able to show clans that can focus on:

-Winning via high political skill and honoring your own characters, and quite possibly winning an Honor Victory (Crane)
-Winning via high military skill (Lion)
-Winning via dishonoring your opponent's characters and having more cards, and maybe winning by getting your opponent to 0 honor (Scorpion)

I logically agree with Scorpion third but flavor wise I put Phoenix in that slot because: Magic.

Then you have a political, military, and magic clan - I think they'll put some space between Crane and Scorpion since they're both very political.

Scorpion, Unicorn, Dragon and Crab seem too close to Lion and Crane (military, political and duels).

Broccoli no Oni!

An aging maho-tsukai, beginnning to feel senility creep in, decides he must act now to finish his greatest work. He prepares himself a nourishing meal to help him recover from the coming blood loss, and begins the rite. He know this spell well, though he has never cast it himself. As he begins to bleed and calls out to the kansen, he realises that he has made a terrible mistake. His hands shaking under the weight of his years, he cut too deep. He feels himself growing delirious from the blood loss, and fears he will die before the ritual ends, but he cannot stop now. At last, the creature he called up from Jigoku appears before him, and the final stage of the summoning begins. Struggling through weakness and delirium, the dying maho-tsukai tries to give the monster his name, but collapses while speaking the words. The kansen struggle to understand the man as his life slips away from him. The maho-tsukai's last words are a feverish blend of name-giving and regret that he will never eat the now blood-soaked dinner he made for this occasion.

The kansen try their best understand what was asked of them, and the oni receives its name.
