How do I use jumpmasters without feeling like a dirty street urchin?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

I'm testing a few things looking for something that I can take out on the town.

I think I'm finally ready to put away my beloved defenders and run some fenn rau. I'll be tinkering with a couple torp scouts with him.

But...I feel itchy. And I can't quite wash away the smell.

You can't. Not really. Trust me, I've tried.....

Use theme as Bumpmasters, and not TORPmasters.

...but in fact, use them as you want and just don't care about it. Torpmasters still require some skill, so go and play.

People who fly the obviously broken ships because they just can't help themselves are dirty. No way around it.

That's true. I probably need to put away my prejudice and just roll with it.

Less torp and more bump actually sounds way more fun

Why not have some of both? That's the way to go.

I thought exactly the same thing, had 2 JM5K's but never played them because of the whole Dengaroo build. But recently I thought screw it, I bought 2 ships that I have never used, so I made up my version of Fenn and Dengar and have been having a blast.

Don't take ordnance would be one. Avoid Dengaroo. Champion Tel. Be inventive?

If you take out the Fenn and 2x torpedo boats because you want to, go ahead. It's high meta, so some people may not be super happy about it, but they should expect to see it at this stage.

Just because something is popular doesn't mean you have to avoid it. If anything, playing it is the best way to learn how to defeat it. I rather enjoy flying Jumps as a whole, and have done since release. I've always run them with odd builds, often to the confusion of opponents. You can always take the concept or the ship, and just put your own twist on it. Make it your own.

Overall, to hell with meta stigmas. Play what you enjoy. It's a game; never lose sight of that.

There's a reason they are called toilet seats.

Just wrap a roll of TP around your head and go with it. But I would strongly advise staying out of the rain. . .

Dont do it. DONT DO IT. What if you win? What IF, you win with f%$#*&^ Jumpmasters. There are better ways, you turn this game into a game that we play, into a algebra equation you solve because A>B in terms of point efficiency. Its wrong, its not even evil, evil wants to rule the game. You, and those jumpmaster, will destroy it.

Just be jerk and play it! Don't let nerfs get in to your head!

Sell them. NO! better, burn them. Values arent values untill you pay for them.

They make decent paperweights or kindling

This thread is quite funny. Thank you for this!

Don't fill the EPT on the Contracted Scouts. Then your conscience is clear.

No, because you will still be playing with an ugly toilet seat that nobody recognizes, with twice the health of an X wing with the same agility, better ordnance and the f%^*^% barrel roll!
Play Star Wars, not Meta Wing

I'll be the dissenting opinion, just fly them, who gives a ****. If people throw shade at you for flying jumpmasters that's not really your problem. If you don't have fun flying jumpmasters then just don't fly them. Sure they're good but they're just ships, who the hell cares.

I wont know if it's fun unless I try it.

I suppose I could just a condom.

Because when you decide to play with an inherit advantage over your friends its dishonest and pathetic. Here is the truth, pretty much anything thats not a J5000 list is inherently worth more point value anything else. Its not in the movies like a Tie fighter, nobody has any nostalgic memories flying it in a popular videogame like th Scuurg in Jedi Starfighter. The only reason to fly that ugly terrible sentient rights violation is because you want to win more than you want to be fair.

Just admit that you are a horrible horrible person that voted for scum uh.. I mean plays scum.

Seriously if you can't stand feeling dirty for playing Scum, then you shouldn't be playing Scum. You are supposed to feel dirty, you are Scum!

Like the ship or loathe it, it always tickles me when someone gets this upset over the backstory of a fictional space ship represented by a plastic toy.

I sometimes fly Jumps. Anyone who has played me will tell you I couldn't really care less about winning as long as I have fun. I conceded a game at Regionals so that we'd have time to restart the game and see what would happen with a different initial engagement (there's a story as to why). I don't think I could ever be accused of having a WAAC mentality.

I don't fly them because of a desire to win. I fly them because I find building them in odd ways is fun. I fly them because, not being a star wars fan at all, I have no emotional attachment to any ship. I even sometimes fly them, because it's so much fun to use them against people who are so vitriolic against them on a basis of their place a work of fiction, their general shape, or their computer game history.

Now, if you want to have a discussion about their dial, cost, or overall gameplay, go nuts. Otherwise, maybe take a step back from calling people "dishonest" and "pathetic".
