I've been seeing a lot of folks selling their whole Armada collection on Facebook, many of them as a lot, quoting prices such as $800 MSRP down to "blah blah" price. The cool thing is it looks like many of these sets sell quickly, but it got me thinking about my investment in Armada.

Over 2 years and 5 waves I'd kinda lost track on what all I've put into it... So I added it all up.

I totaled about $1243 on FFG brand, core, expansions, mats, and accessories alone, when I thought about all the matches and time spent here on the forums, I realized I've put in more time and money with this than any of my other hobbies...

So I figured it might be fun to see how much money and time we've all devoted to Armada.

Wouldn't she be able to infer the same info purely based on living with you?

I really need to get in some more matches but don't live in a community with an Armada scene. I will be working in Vancouver in a couple of months and hope to get in a game there. Vassal has been awesome though but hard to justify the expenditure on real ships that aren't needed in Vassal.

No offense taken. I do a lot of "magic" with swagbucks and earning Amazon gift cards. Not a whole lot of money spent out of the account that way, but probably a larger investment then she would guess...and i was more joking the being serious. She is cool with it.

but now I am curious and will most likely add it up now.

Lets just say the number of vassal matches I have played is high.

trends I'm seeing: a lot of us so far have a sweet spot hitting somewhere around that $1200 retail mark (mine is exactly there). Based on my collection, that's roughly 2 of each expansion.

It would be higher, but the last few times I've been running, not playing.

-Hours spent painting/modding: In excess of 980. This counts as raw time, and not man-hours.
(According to my painting/commission log)
(As there was a period of time where I was pouring resin and painting in parallel, that let me double-up on man hours.)

I recently had to pay out Customs fees on a shipment that, instead of being valued at $10, was valued at $1000.

But overall. I'm still in the Positive... I was able to get my Son into a Specialist School last year (and to continue this year), And I'm about $400 away from being able to provide him with continual transport for the school year next year... Hopefully, I can raise that by September...
