Discussion of Possible weapons and Supports we could see from Rebels in EAW expansion (Spoilers from Rebels) EDIT: Let's just make this characters too

By MandoBard, in Star Wars: Destiny

Just got caught up on Rebels after rewatching season 1(and finishing TCW), so thought it might be fun to get this speculation going. Will do a similar one for characters.

So purpose of this thread, is from the characters and focus we know, and from the overall show determine what unique weapons, equipment, ships, and creatures are likely are at least possible. This will include spoilers for obvious reasons. I'll get things going with the obvious picks

Weapons: So, there's 4 obvious picks Lasat BowRifle, Ezra's Lightsaber, Double bladed lightsaber(or Maul's Saber if unique, Ep1 or Rebels version) and the Darksaber. Now, mind you that would likely mean 3 unique weapons, and 1 if not 2 would be Legendary... Now the other thing is the Darksaber it would be Yellow, though whether it'd be Neutral, or heroic, that and it's trait could be a play on Redeploy, only it redeploys to the character who kills the character with the weapon. Lasat Bowriffle has two thing that are debatable Color(I'm thinking Zeb would actually be a Red due to his background), and alignment(Both Zeb and Agent Kallus Wield one, although if you made it neutral then it'd be more likely to be legendary), maybe make it's trait that damage can be resolved as Ranged or Melee? Think I'll let there be brainstorming before I put my full thoughts out.

Equipment: With Sabine being the cover character, and her ability, first choice is both a little out there, but I think it's likely we get a variant of it: Thermal Paint Can (cousin to Thermal Detonator, the explosive paint she uses. Name allows it to be used with her ability) make it's special perhaps, deals damage to each oposing character equal to their number of dice in the dice pool? A little tricky to optimize, but potentially dangerous. Only other equipment, which is a more general neutral one would be Mandalorian Wrist Gauntlets, which with Jango in, and Boba coming eventually we will want, and Sabine using them too makes it likely. Perhaps it would be a multi special dice, but balance is tricky so while I have ideas I think I'll wait on them.

Supports: One the easiest ones to think about, Chopper, The Ghost, Tie Defender, and Neebu(He's kinda too nebulous and too powerful to make a character, I mean it'd be like a Rancor).

Well, that's my thoughts so far, so which do you guys think are likely, any obvious choices I missed? Want to elaborate on any I brought up? well lets go ahead and discuss then. Will put together my Character one shortly

Ok, decided we may as well consolidate everything, so lets talk characters too

I would love the Darksaber

Well, to discuss weapons, we need to also discuss characters. SoR only had one character from Rogue One for each color for the heroes and only two villains (both red), so I'm guessing very few characters will make it to EaW, sadly. We know Sabine for sure, and I don't remember where it was spoiled, but we know Thrawn too. I'm guessing we'll only get one for each faction.

So, yellow hero (Sabine) and red villain (just guessing for Thrawn) are already done. Blue hero will probably be either Kanan or Ezra, red hero Zeb or Hera, blue villain the Grand Inquisitor, and yellow villain Azmorigan or Vizago. So there's a good chance that Zeb and Kallus won't even show up, making the Bowrifle unlikely as well, sadly.

I'm sure we will see a Ghost support in some form or other. It's also highly likely that there'll be a villain vehicle, either a C-ROC cruiser or a Gozanti-class Carrier. I would be very happy it C1-10P (Chopper) showed up as a support, but the odds are probably a bit lower.

I'm guessing that if Ezra shows up, we'll see his wrist energy slingshot and/or blaster/lightsaber, but if the blue hero is Kanan, we might see a Jedi Holocron instead. The Inquisitor will probably bring with him a dual-bladed spinning lightsaber, but I'm not sure if it'll be unique or not. Sabine's ability seems single-purpose right now, so there better be some other "thermal" stuff for those of us not lucky enough to pull any thermal detonators in Awakenings.

Hopefully, the whole cast will be there, but at the very least we can expect the Ghost, more "thermal" something-or-others, and the Grand Inquisitor's Lightsaber. There's also probably a good chance for Chopper and a Gozanti and/or C-ROC Cruiser.

Ok, decided to consolidate everything, so here's my thought's and counterpoints here.

I think we'll get more Rebels characters than we did Rogue 1. It's the difference between a popular multiple season tv show with heavily varying characters, and a movie with overlapping ones. Then you've got 4 tangential characters that are multi-era, popular and unique. Lets start on that actually, those 4 being Ahoska, Rex, Wedge, and Maul. they've all been heavily fleshed out due to the cartoons and due to being both TCW, and OT era, I think they are all 4 extremely likely, and could be counted seperately of the Rebel reps, despite the rebel focus increasing their odds. For that matter it's odd we haven't gotten a single Clone trooper yet, so Captain Rex, is ultra likely, probably as the prequel hero Red Unique. Ashoka doesn't really have any major differences between TCW prime and Dark Times, so again, she's the likely prequel Blue rare(I'd say her Dark Times version would be a legendary). As for Maul, well I've gone over that in the other thread, but I'm still thinking we're more likely to get Darth Maul: Crime Lord over Darth Maul: Phantom Menace or Dark Wanderer. He would make for a super unique blue in that capacity, and would not conflict with an inquisitor at all... although any version of him would make sense as a Legendary. Wedge is Wedge, we're getting him sooner or later, him popping up in this would just be good synergy

So with those 3 out of the way let's get to the main Rebels crew. Now first off We've seen era's get dual slots before, heck Awakenings had triple slots with OT Red(Rebel Trooper, Ackbar, Leia) While it's not necessarily OT popular, we've gotten most of the OT characters out of the way and we won't be seeing too many repeats until next year. So seeing a couple of double slots from Rebels is likely, although definitely not triples(since there's a heavy focus on unique characters) only rule of thumb, is one would be rare, the other legendary. Now I'm going to make this one a little cleaner by splitting it up by colors. But first: Known characters: Sabine(yellow), Thrawn(Red). Major Rebels only characters: Zeb, Kanan, Ezra, Hera, Agent Kallus, Grand Inquisitor, and Azmorigan(he's a yellow evil that's about it). I'll be including known into the grouping so I can do full reasoning

Red: Thrawn(likely Legendary, only way to do him justice), Agent Kallus, Hera, Zeb. This is the only dicey one for me, justifying Thrawn as a legendary who will have some sort of crazy powerful trait or special makes sense due to his tactical expertise, and we know he's in already, but Agent Kallus isn't hard to justify either since he's their primary soldier antagonist for the first 2 seasons, giving him a weapons special makes sense, and it's just a fun counterpoint. It's Hera and Zeb where things get interesting, Hera seems more of a Ackbar or Padme level character, low attack and cost, but a decent deck or die control ability basically a Rebel Veers equivelent, whereas Zeb is a both a former Military captain, and technically the actual solider of the team in season 1 (even if he's kinda more Militia style), but him and red cards make complete sense. The possibility of his weapon being added in for both him and Kallus makes him extremely appealing, and he'd have a higher level combat ability that either bolsters his attack or hinders opponent melee would work, although if we did have both that'd make him more likely as the Legendary)

Yellow: Sabine, Ezra, and Azmorigan. Sabine's confirmed a Legendary, don't need to go over that any further, but Ezra as a character lends far more to a Yellow than a blue, and a rare as well, perhaps able to include blue weapons and equipment in his deck? Azmorigan is kinda a pity throw, there's not really any other dedicated yellow rebel character.... but if you wanted to go TCW/Rebels instead I actually think Hondo would be more likely

Blue: Kanan, grand Inquisitor. don't have much to say on Kanan really, other than if we get a Rebels rep in every color, it's either him or Ezra, and Ezra has more possibilities as a yellow than blue. Grand Inquisitor on the other hand seems like Rare Villain Blue to me, unless of course, we just get lumped together in a non-unique Sith Inquisitor card which is also possible. Either way I see the Legendary Blue villain of this set being Maul, any version.

So those are my thoughts. Really Think we'll at least see a Rebel in every group, and likely a few doubles, and a few TCW versions of characters that have had a role in Rebels as well

The ideas present are interesting, but you have some characters mixed up and you are forgetting one major member of the crew.

The lay out I see for the Rebels crew is as follows:

Yellow: Sabine and Zeb
Red: Hera and Chopper
Blue: Kanan and Ezra

Additional characters from the series will probably look like this:
Yellow: Lando, Hondo
Red: Kallus, Thrawn, Konstantine or Pryce, Rex, Sato
Blue: Ahsoka, Inquisitor, Potentially Maul

While Azmorigan, Vizago, Tua, and a few others are fun characters that we all pretty much know, I doubt they'll fluff THAT many lower tier characters into the set.

The Ghost is a safe bet, Inquisitor Saber, Honorguard Bo-Rifle, Ezra's Saber are also safe bets.

More as I have time.

EDIT: What would be neat, is if they make characters like Hondo and Maul, that they make them Neutral characters instead of Just Villain (or possibly Hero in Hondo's case).

I'd say Lando fits in well as a crossover character as well given his appearances in Rebels.

I hope Lando abuses Comlink. It would be nice to see that FFG's had a vision to bring cards in and out of relevancy.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what cards this set invalidates and what cards the set will bring up to power or back up to power.

Yes, and make it Neutral Unique Legendary weapon upgrade.

Id also like to see another "Thermal" weapon for Sabine's text.

Dark Saber seems likely as a melee weapon. AT-DP was just announced for Imperial Assault, so it's definitely a contender as a support. The Ghost, obviously. I think it would be cool if the Ghost and Phantom shuttle were both added and you get some sort of boost for having both of them in play. Sabine's TIE Fighter is in X-wing, as are Protectorate Fighter and Shadowcaster. We may see The Bendu, and I think he may make more sense as a Support than as a character. TIE Advanced Prototype seems likely.

But also keep in mind that there will be saga-spanning additions, just like the sets have been so far.

How about this?

Character: Yoda - Blue Hero

Cost:10 (no elite die)

Health 10

Sides: 1 Resource, 2 Resource, 2 Discard, 2 Discard, 2 manipulate, 2 manipulate

Ability: While this character is in play, opponents may not remove Blue character or ability dice from your dice pool.

The idea behind this character is giving Blue a counter to die control decks and also a consistent source of mill and dice manipulation. I gave it only one die and no damage sides both as thematic for the true Yoda (Original Trilogy) and balance - as with two dice this character would be OP.

All I want is a Dagobah battlefield.

I would love Kallus. I think it would be neat if he was the first neutral character (as he swapped sides about half way through the story line) so maybe his card would be double sided to reflect him as a hero and villain? Also I think we may have a chance at seeing cassian andor, as the trailer for season four clearly shows the u-wing and we know he was a rebel for a very long time before Jyn came along. Even though he may be a smaller character?

I want young Obi-Wan and his flavor text to be "Hello there."

I just keep thinking that FFG is gonna make the worst decision with Chopper and make him a Support instead of a character. Hoping they do the right thing tho :)

Yeah, R2-D2, BB-8, and C-3PO were all supports, so I'm guessing C1-10P and K-2SO are gonna be supports as well (if they ever even show up)...

Neither of which should be JUST supports. Both have combat capabilities and are more in their respective stories than BB-8, R2-D2 (who has an argument for character), and 3PO.

I could see K2-SO as a character. He can at least hold and shoot a blaster. I'd have a harder time seeing an astromech or protocol droid as a character. Chopper might have a melee side, much like R2, but I still see him as a support.

Regarding the original topic, Decipher games had a long tradition of speculative cardlists, predicting what cards will be in the upcoming sets and keeping track of spoilers. Would this community be interested if I were to make one?

Chopper can hold and shoot a blaster (two actually), and fly a ship, and Electroshock people. You should watch Rebels, he's not your typical "Fly a ship and interface with terminals" Astromech. He's also the third oldest droid in Disney canon (as far as I know), so he's got a metric crap-ton of experience.

I do like Rebels, but I don't have Disney XD, so it's spotty as to which episodes I've seen. I'll admit that Chopper is a bit more animated (pun totally intended) than most astromechs, but I still think he's still support material. But, I'm not in charge of such things, so I figure we'll just have to wait and see!

C1-10P

support - droid

yellow hero

you may attach up to two upgrades to this support.

special: remove a character dice

dice:

1 melee

1 ranged damage

1 resource

1 disrupt

special

special

Chopper is a character darn it!

We need some more set previews for Set 3 while we're at it! :D

Darth Maul

Yellow

11 Health

You may play play blue abilities on this character. You may include blue upgrades and villain events in your deck.

2 Melee, 2 Melee, +2 Melee, 1 Discard, 1 Resource, Blank

13/17

I like this ability or the other way around with being able to include yellow villain events and upgrades as a Blue Character.

I also want to see new die sides that heal characters for a trandoshan mercenary or Bossk, they have lower health in general to make up for it.
