Did you know about the how balanced is each scenario's poll ?

By Mirlitho, in Imperial Assault Campaign

yeah, its interesting. Unfortunately, for most of the scenarios number of people that we have data for is very low. I would say, that semi-reliable conclusions can be drawn for the core set only, when it can be seen that most story missions favors Imperial player (with one of the finales seeming to be really unbalanced), and most side missions favors Rebels (one scenario that seems to favor Imperials does not - in Luxury Cruise "winning" is not exactly winning).

My own experience from the core set (multiple times) is that the story missions favor the Imperial player. It could just be that it takes longer to learn how to effectively use the rebels to their potential, but since the core set is typically the first campaign folks play, that could explain why it seems to favor the Imps...

Also, my most recent experience with the core set was that the missions did not favor the Imperial player. We even won the finale - only lost a single mission (Jedi Luke side mission)...

I find that there are so many factors that go into who wins and loses each mission that any poll needs to be taken with a large grain of salt. In my experience, the skill of the Imperial players and Rebel players has the biggest impact on the outcome of a given mission. I've played the same mission as both Imperial and Rebel and it seemed like an uphill climb for different sides at different times - even campaigns have gone 11-0 in one direction with one group and completely in the other direction with another group. There are definitely missions that favor one side or the other but depending on which heroes are selected, which class deck, the timing of XP upgrades and item draws, use of agenda cards, etc. - mission results can vary greatly from play to play. I don't see this as a bad thing, seems like it adds replay value to the game.

After a quick review of all the polls, I have a strong feeling that this game is less and less balanced.

More and more expansions means less and less balanced missions (tending towards 50%-50%).

The core box and Twin shadows had many scenarios with a ratio tending towards 50%-50%.

That's not the case after.

Keep in mind, as a game goes on, you're going to get less and less people reporting on this.

The core box has 455 answers in its poll as of my posting this. Jabba's Realm has 65.

The more answers you'd get, the more you'd expect a closer 50:50 split. Not saying that new expansions have been better or worse balanced, but just that it's a pretty rough comparison by using only that data.

To echo Subtrendy's point, one of the missions in Jabba has had 3 responses.

Also as overall campaign balance goes, it's worth looking at which types of missions were favoured by which side. If you look at the core campaign all of the story missions that are unbalanced heavily are weighted towards the imperials, whereas all of the side missions that are heavily unbalanced are weighted towards the rebels (except for Luxury Cruise). This can make it pretty tough for the rebels to win the overall campaign, since it's the story missions that grant the extra XP.

Both Hoth and Jabba seem to have more missions that swing to one side or the other, but taken as a whole the story missions throughout the campaigns seem roughly even.
