I've played a regional where I was undefeated with 18 pts and came 7th out of 22. The winner was on 25 pts with a loss.
I somehow feel first place to sixth deserved it in my example despite me being undefeated.

Ps the risk/reward strategy is **** exciting in Armada at times... my wife would tell you I play in to many tournaments but the scoring system is what drives forward amazing fleet builds and objective play. and has lead to so many heart stopping moments like working out if you can make the top 8 etc. we like diversity in our game not 120 players rocking the same build.... if you have an idea on how to improve the game that's great "Go And Test Your Idea And Feedback" don't just says it's broken and such and such needs to change don't back seat drive. I don't mean to be cranky but it's depressing seeing negative posts without real evidence. We are a growing game and I for one love attending tournaments and never have I seen any negativity from the Armada crowd over scoring from store tournaments, champs, regionals to nationals. Please don't try and put people off discovering the joy of Armada...
I have an idea for a shirt!

Excellent! He's not on to us, brothers!
In my opinion anything you can do to make the game good for tournament play is good as long as it does not hurt its campaign oriented game play. Campaign play make the game 100% more interesting and are totally different in terms of balance or the way you build/expand a fleet.
Tournament play is good for keeping the game popular and supported so it certainly is important but please not in a way to make the campaign part of the game suffer.

18 points sounds like you had three really tight wins, or three really fun games of armada. Everybody wins!

No just a better scoring system, a way to build list that are not 5+ ships and a way to make obstacles play a bigger part

Why not play I still play in tournaments for other games even tho I lose the first 2 games. the games are fun and I enjoy them. I just enjoy them more when there is a competitive edge to them. even if I don't win
I really don't believe the scoring system represents the individual games very well ovre a 3 round tournament. I like the win/loss system because it is simple. But I'm not married to this idea some times I think SOS would be better but I really hate SOS. most of the players I have been talking to about this over this last year have agreed the system does not work as well as some think it does. I would like to here other Ideas on different scoring systems if anyone has any?

You do not represent everyone. Because YOU will stay, does not mean everyone else will. Players drop all the time from tournaments for varying reasons, and one of the most common being a loss in the first round.

You won't find a better scoring system. The one we have is not perfect but it works at the largest tournaments. If you don't like it, run a tournament with your own format. You're not going to find many supporters on the forums who want a change this serious, mainly because we don't make the call. FFG does. And FFG does not take unsolicited rule changes.
What I didn't understand yet is why someone would think that a guy who killed 1200 (400-0; 400-0; 400-400) points during a tornament is worse than a guy who killed 60 points (20-0; 20-0; 20-0).
Two 8-3 usually means better MoV than three 7-4 if I am not wrong. There are extreme cases, of course, when someone almost reach the next level and other reached by the minimum. But I think the discrepancy would be higher with a win-lose system.
The best thing this thread has so done so far is educate people about fidget spinners, which are a huge fad amongst those dern kids these days.

Yes. No doubts now IMO. The days of counting on a baby seal tabling are over with the flotilla.

But we have failed to discuss the dangers of the spinners and correct health and safety standards

Makes me glad I don't have kids.
I agree with two of these points and disagree with two of these points. That's all I'll say.

I may agree with some, none or all of the above.
I mean, if it really made Armada better, hell yes, but I'm not sure that's the case.

Well I disagree with whatever you agree upon. It's clearly the incorrect opinion to be held, and I know this because I am always right, therefore you must be wrong.
If, however, you agree with my disagreement about your agreement, then you realize FFG will change the rules as they see fit no matter the outcry from people on the interwebz.

You're only saying that because those darn kids give you their money when you sell them one, haha

Its really not fair. Some generations get to buy real estate in the 70's, we get to go hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt for what in todays society is about as useful as a high school diploma. Thank god I avoided that trap. State school, baby!

Don't forget, it's also our fault that we're lazy and can't find work, when THEY won't retire. Or in my girlfriend's case, are trying to take away the debt repayment plan she's been working under the assumption that she would have. It's GREAT!
Changing topics, how bout dem tiny space ships, huh?
