Asajj's Banshee (Mk. II)

My take on the Banshee. I went marginally off-model with the markings because I'm not good at freehanding and because the Lancer on Rebels doesn't have quite the same structure as the original model planned for Clone Wars.

I'm still learning a lot -- mostly about how poorly acrylic washes behave on flat panels and how bad I still am at fine details. I'll probably dab on one or two more minor color details later, and weathe r another panel or two to better even things out. A ship this big begs for detailing.

I AM happy with the colors. This particular ship was a good exercise in getting the right shades and coolness of grays -- I had to mix all these colors to get what I needed.

Earlier steps are in an album at http://imgur.com/a/3jDan .

Nicely done!...

... especially the weathering.

Try gloss coating before using the washes. This keeps the washes from soaking into the base color. To add some body to the wash add Lahmian Medium. This will make the wash behave more like a glaze and a little easier to control. Sorastro Painting on YouTube has some good tips on washes but his channel deals with minis for tabletop play.

This is a really good repaint! Did you keep a record of your mixing ratios for the paints you used?

I really should write those down just in case...

Trust nothing to memory! Hard copies of everything that's important.

If you do a "theme"repaint you can mix a batch, write the formula down on paper and tape it to the batch bottle. I used to do that for custom mixed O.D. Green.

Excellent Work.

I like the Combination of colours they work well.

Great job.

All the best,

Barry.

Necro update! I've added a custom-printed nosepiece that's always been part of the original design (and is now on the 2.0 card art).

Shoutout to @Stoneface for prompting me to write down exact colors. I couldn't have gotten this to match if I hadn't. (And I wrote the gold down wrong, somehow, so it's not quite right. Bah.)

Where do you get the nose piece from, my Banshee wip NEEDS this!

Nicely done @Quarrel ! Aren't you glad you kept a record of the paints used? ☺️

I 3D-printed it myself. (Santa was very good to me this Christmas.) Then I cut & glued on tiny strip styrene bits for the red lights when I realized I'd forgotten them.

I uploaded the STL files here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3491788/ . I haven't molded light notches into the model yet and I'm not even sure they'll print smoothly.

Oh man, this looks SO good.

Much praise!

Could there be a possible agreement with Shapeways stores for those of us who dont (currently) have access to printers?

That should already be doable. Shapeways allows custom uploads, and I put my own files up for free.

oh, ok.. I've never tried it that way.
