When Should you attack a base Corellian Conflict and other msc questions

By Payens, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to get the communities thoughts. I am playing the Corellian Campaign I am the Empire and we finished our First round. I did pretty good in that first round and up a far bit on fleet points etc so I was thinking that it was a good time to maybe take a poke at some of his holdings and see if I can get them to shrink. But looking at the base assault objectives they seem pretty tough to go against. So if I do that and I pick a base I was thinking that I should just hyperspace out then I know where it is and then try to take the outposts out first.... Thoughts?

Also I read in the manual that you can change out the ship upgrade cards for other ones depending on what you wanted to bring in. And I am not sure how how plentiful points are but what about if I wanted to take different squadrons or ships in a fleet and I am at the max fleet points? can I get different ones and then adjust per mission what for ships and squadrons as well?

I just started my campaign, but I'd say that if you think you could have a shot at beating the enemy fleets, you should attack a base. 2/3 of our battles are base defenses. I mean, in the beginning it's kinda easier to take the bases since there are less overall ships, especially if your team came off better in the previous turn, meaning that your fleets will generally be stronger than the opposition. Furthermore, the base objectives can be tanked or neutralized:

Armed Station: no shields or defense tokens, so pound it with any spare shots you have. It itself isn't too potent (I think).

Fighters: Can you conceivable beat another 40 points of whatever? If so, you're good.

Ion Cannon: Do you have strategic? Then move the tokens!

Again, I just started, and I know the base objectives are hard, but the stronger the enemy fleets get, and the more he/she gets used to beating/fighting you, the harder it will be to defeat the enemy.

As for reserving things: You can't reserve ships or squadrons, only cards, and you cannot exceed the 500 point max limit. Everything you have ever purchased and kept is included in that limit, so you cannot have, for example, 2 separate fleets with different purposes that you swap out under the same admiral for different missions. You can however destroy existing ships/squads/cards to make room for others (keep in mind though that uniques are thus lost forever).
