I think wordsmith is a metaphor, considering the Crane themselves are the sword.
As someone who has been in Rokugan since just barely before Gold Edition, I loved this piece. It captures a real essence of the clan for new members, while teasing us vets with art and excitement for the return of the game.
My biggest plus from the video and also the other day's story pdf...... I love the new stylized Crane mon. Very artistic for a clan known for beauty and artisans.
I think I'd rather see an article going through the Crane sense of perfection in the actual game through the cards rather than a video like this. Yes, fiction too.
I wonder if perfection is still a shurido tenet.

True, though it seemed that - as with so many other things - there were an awful lot of "this family forges the finest blades!" in 'old' Rokugan. The Kaiu, the Agasha, the Ashikada, the Tsi, etc. etc.

The comment I was looking for. When I first saw this, I assumed it was the narrator's natural accent. It might be fake or it might be real, either way I thought it was a good trailer.

I feel that comparison kind of works against the point you're making, though. Takei wasn't speaking in his natural voice, he was doing an intentionally over the top Japanese accent that probably would have been offensive outside the context of an intentionally over the top comedic game.

While the accent does sound just a little over the top, to me the it sounds similar to ken watanabe's.
