Does the Decimator need a revamp? It used to be great in tournaments but never on anything at Worlds. It probably should be the best Imperial ship but missed it slightly. I think it needs a Veterans-style pack.

Every ship needs a veteran style pack now a days.
Well, there was one player flying it who made the top 16 at Worlds this year... But to be fair, he is one of the best I've ever seen play or flown against... It is quite good in the hands of an expert...

I played against that list last night, in the hands of a very poor player. I think it's probably the first time I've EVER lost to him - it's serious business!
I love a bit of Whisper and I love a bit of Kylo, so I'm going to give it a run myself.
I want to like the decimator, but I just think it looks a bit silly with that tiny weenie little gun.
I find this amusing because Decimators are one of the few Imperial ships I ever see anymore. Hotshot Gunner RAC and Kylo RAC are both pretty popular.

Yeah, I've tried a Deci with Batwing, and it did pretty well. I just think Expose is the way to go with this ship.

It's Deci with Kylo crew, Whisper as wingman.

- Chiraneau - Adaptability, Palpatine, Kylo, Engine Upgrade
- Whisper - VI, FCS, ACD
Pretty sure I've not forgotten anything. There's actually not THAT much going on, the list is all about good positioning and making best use from Palp and Kylo.

RAC whisper in general is a really fun but hard to play list. Games are over super fast...win or lose.
If it's more win than lose you hopefully don't have to sweat the giant MOV pit you'll be in either way

It was one of only two Imperial ships in the top 16 at worlds, it's fine.

Decimators were good back in Wave 5. But that is just the thing, the Anti-ArcDodging meta from Wave 5 is back . So with it comes those builds from what many Imperial players would call "the dark age of PWTs", especially those that favored Whisper and Soontir over TIE Swarms. TIE Swarms didn't have it easy as well since Super Dash was both a hybird Arc-dodger and a turret. It was just a unique position that Doughnut Dash could be easily Arc-dodged and exploited by pure arc dodgers like pre-nerf Whisper and Soontir. However Dash had a wingman, Corran Horn which proved to be a good anti-large PWT ship pilot. RAC was the PWT companion to Whisper giving Imperial players both the Arc dodger and the PWT.
But the meta isn't exactly in a PWT meta, Arc dodgers are still strong it is just that Soontir is no longer king of the Arc dodgers. The good Arc Dodger players have defected over to scum, the bad ones complain about TLTs on the forum.
But that brings full circle to the Imperial meta having to revisit builds from Wave 5. The one thing they were the best at has been taken away from them not in the forms of counters but in well better options through accretion and power creep. So there is no better time than now to brush off the dust from the decimator and bring out the heavier weights in both firepower and durability. Leave the fancy arc-dodging stuff at home, or restrict yourself to only taking one.

Lol, this year it was the literally the lone Imperial representative in the top 16 at worlds. The deci is just fine thanks to new crew options.

Well, again that was a Wave 5 list just modernized a little with Kylo ren <crew>. That being said it makes me wonder if Whisper is the best small ship to be flying, or if that is just what the player was used to and never changed his pilot selection for tournaments. I'd figure maybe a Vessery or TIE/SF could have done better getting into the Top 8.

By some 40k bits on ebay and put like a yuge Tau gun on it then.
I am so happy to hear my favorite ship is gaining favor again. Just wish it wasn't a damage sponge and not a very good one. Read a poster say you need to burn quick with a decimator and they aren't lying. 16 hp behind 0 agi suuuuucks. Time for some krazy kamikaze kamehameha builds. Universal Spirit Bomb fire!
