Ghost builds for store champs

By Jdgnielson, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Anyone running ghosts for store champs? How are you building it out?

This is what I am thinking of running.

Hera Ghost 55

accuracy corrector, ion cannon turret, Lando, Nien Numb, EI, and Ghost title

Zeb shuttle 18

Chopper and Phantom title

Ahsoka Tie 27

VI, Sabine's masterpiece, captured tie, Sabine crew, IMP device, and Thermal Detonators

You want navigator on the Hera ghost. It makes her ridiculously maneuverable. That and engine upgrade makes her really hard to hit.

I would also recommend TLT's instead of ion turret. Something like this.

Hera Ghost 56

accuracy corrector, TLT, navigator, chopper, EI, and Ghost title

You'd have to shave a point off ahsoka somewhere thou.

You're very close to the list that came 2nd at Yavin Open. Could be worth having a look at that.

That 27 pts Tie build is just horrendously expensive on 3 hull no shields.

That would be my biggest concern.

Not so important when you're not allowed to shoot at it...

But ps9 is not uncommon, fenn, dengar, imperial aces, some ps7 stuff with vi (like the world's winning build)

Is Kanan/Biggs still something worth flying? Autoblaster or TLT versions?

Maybe this:

Kanan Jarrus (38)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Accuracy Corrector (3)
Finn (5)
Rey (2)
Ghost (0)

Biggs Darklighter (25)
R2-D2 (4)
Stealth Device (3)

"Zeb" Orrelios (18)
"Chopper" (0)
Phantom (0)

-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

The autoblaster/AC is just mean. I think it's worth flying, but I think the TLT version gets more out of it because of the range.

I flew Kanan/Biggs at the Hoth open and went 6-3, 42nd overall. It's a fun list to fly. But I had recon specialist instead of Finn and TLT's

What would you build out to fly with the ghost for 25-27 points instead.

I like the yavin list. Using Black Market Slicer instead of emp gives the points to equip tlt, engine upgrade, and navigator

Well, I prefer Kanan to Hera and see them flown differently, but here are some of my favorites.

An obvious choice (valid in most rebel lists) is a Y-Wing gold sq, TLT, droid of choice (24+).

Could also be the stress hog variant (26).

Z-95 Airen Cracken, Homing missiles, VI, Guidance chips (25).

HWK-290 Kyle Katarn, TLT, Trick shot, Jyn Erso (27).

T-65 X-Wing Tarn Mison, R7 Astromech/M9-G8, Integrated Astromech (25/26).

Or a two ship distraction:

Tie Sabine Wren, A Score to Settle (15).

Z-95 Bandit (12).

Remember, PS9 shoots at Ahsoka; bombs and some other stuff that doesnt need to target her wotks fine.

Typo

I just won a store championship yesterday with a double VCX list.

Lothal Rebel (35), FCS (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), Weapons Engineer (3), Ghost (0)

Lothal Rebel (35), FCS (2), Autoblaster Turret (2), Hera (1), Chopper (0)

Zeb Orrelios (18), Phantom (0)

Anyone who is PS 9+ can. Dont know about you, But Dengar, Fenn, Vader, VI N'Dru even Whisper are big where I am from. Ahsoka needs to be cheap as she is still a TIE.

Hera with navigator murderises lower PS Ships, higher PS ships can boost/barrel roll to range 1 to avoid the 4 TLT shots.

I was toying with the idea of trying the Double Ghost Auto/FCS and a Gold with Auto, but afraid of alpha strike lists removing a Ghost fairly quickly. Did you run into anything like that? Also , did you happen to play against Triple Scouts?

I like to run kanan/zeb shuttle with auto blaster/accuracy corrector, recon spec, Rey. That's 4 auto damage at range 1, minus 3 shots to opponent for recon and Rey combo.

Paired with ahsoka in captured tie you can spend her focus and then take an evade on kanan for a possible minus 4 damage.

I don't have a Rey crew card so in tourney I am using chewie for extra hull/shield and crit stoppage.

Jan ors with tlt is also decent. 6 red dice at range 1 is fun, followed by auto blaster.

Personal favorite Ghost list is:

(100)

Lothal Rebel (41) - VCX-100
Fire Control System (2), Dorsal Turret (3), Hera Syndulla (1), "Chopper" (0), Ghost (0)

Norra Wexley (41) - ARC-170
Push The Limit (3), C-3PO (3), R2-D2 (4), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

"Zeb" Orrelios (18) - Attack Shuttle
Phantom (0)

I've won against Scum and Imperials with it. Haven't faced Rebels with it yet. Ghost takes out the biggest threat, and Norra just annoys people with the guaranteed one evade/regen or the lucky three evade roll with help from 3PO.

I agree with the others above. Ashoka is a lot of fun, but probably not in a tournament setting where you can expect a lot of Aces.

This is what I ran at the Hoth open and it did very well:

Kanan, TLT, recon specialist, Rey, FCS, tactical jammer, Title,

Zeb(shuttle) - autoblaster, title, chopper

Biggs- M9-G8, Integrated Astromech

The idea was to keep the ghost between Biggs and your opponent to get as much dice as possible. biggs would lock onto the ghost for re-rolls. Kanan's ability would reduce attack dice being thrown at Biggs. I did well, except my last match on day 2 against Fenn and 2 torp-boats. I got it handed to me badly and it dropped my MOV. I ended 42nd out of 319 overall, which was still good

I have plenty of battle reports from my Kanan/Biggs variant if you're interested. I probably have over 100 games with it, and another 50 or so with other Kanan/Biggs variants and am quite confident that the only other one that comes close to being as good is the Caleb's pride version.

My list: Kanan w/ TLT, FCS, Rey, Recon, Ghost, EU; Biggs w/ R3-A2, IA; Zeb w/ Chopper, Phantom

Caleb's Pride: Kanan w/ TLT, FCS, Finn, Rey, Ghost; Zeb w/ Chopper, Phantom; Biggs w/ R2D2, IA (I've seen some variations here with the droid and Mod slot for Kanan, but I think this was the original)

Yes, I lost my first match with an alpha strike tie bomber list. He had one ghost off the board before it could fire, But I was still able to come back and almost win that match.

Ay folks. The question might not me straight on point in this thread, but rising it in the one it occurred to me was of much use - I'm a new member and the mods must apparently not be scouting often to the 5+ page to approve newbies' content. :D

So, in at least a couple of VCX-100 lists out there I've seen Finn getting a ticket onboard. Can someone explain to a young padawan here what purpose he serves in such list? I imagine most of the time our attacks will consist of the twin-twin laser turret salvo, in which our favourite traitor has no use. Then, of course, the enemy will most likely try to find shelter hugging Ghost in its R1 bubble, but even with our efforts to keep 'em in the 25% of it that we can make use of Finn, without TL or eg. a friendly M9 still standing by our side, the blank seems to have close to no purpose. The same goes for defence.

So, unless I'm really missing on something, is it worth dedicating yet another 5 points to the brick for a rather situational crewmate? Or is FCS the key to the secret? Then again, 7 points for a die you cannot rethrow, isn't it a bit overpriced?

For a double ghost build, I would say Finn doesn't really have a use. Where he makes the most out of that extra die is the Kanan/Biggs build where Biggs has M9-G8. He target locks the ghost so basically Kanan can reroll that blank on any attack basically.

My girlfriend is a huge fan of flying the Ghost w/ Miranda, but we can't seem to put a build together that gives the Ghost any kind of defense against my Imps. She's usually using Kanan w/ various crew and upgrades looking for a good combo. We're open to suggestions for upping the defense/agility options. Thanks!

That's the thing about the Ghost though, huge amount of health instead of relying on green dice. With that said, you could try Recon Specialist with Jan Ors crew. Focus action to get a focus and an evade.

Biggs is about the only thing you can use to protect the Ghost, and even that is temporary. I always attempt to clear the board of the biggest offensive threat the other person has, then use my Rebel-regen flanker to clean up the scraps. You could probably experiment with RecSpec/Jan as @Cloud46 suggested, along with Reinforced Deflectors/Sensor Jammer. But FCS is just too good of a match with the 4 red dice and all of those red maneuvers.

Right on. We'll check out those options and see what we can come up with. It sounds like maybe the key is to be as offensive as possible right out of the gate!
