Tie Bomber Squadron Help

For long time now i have wanted to try my hand at an all tie bomber list and with the release of the new tie aggressors i believe i have come up with a viable idea. Was just hoping to get a critique of this:

Total: 99 points

Captain Jonus

Long range Scanners

Crack Shot

Ion Torpedoes

Unguided Rockets

Scimitar Squadron Pilot x 3

Long Range Scanners

Ion Torpedoes

Unguided Rockets

Did think i could use proton torps instead of ion for the chance for crits in the alpha strike but im not sure what is more beneficial

Any critique or ideas would be great thanks :)

Ion, when it happens, let you know where the enemy ship will be next turn.

Non Ion ordnance lets you bite big chunks out of the enemy asses.

What do you prefer to pay points to get one shots of? :)

Lists based on ordnance need all the right upgrades, like Guidance chips and Extra munitions.

Since you have Jonus for re-rolls and LRS for early locks, I think you should that plasmas and throw bombs on your bombers. Whether you use them effectively or not, your opponent has to account for the fact that they could taken damage if they land behind you. It's good for getting the out of position. Especially since bombers have a tendency to explode.

Jonus is a trap, he costs more than just giving all of your ships Homing Missiles, which have a better effect. Unguided Rockets do not synergize with him, either.

So. you want to use Unguided Rockets, right? I wouldn't say they pair too well with traditional ordnance cards. What I find intriguing is the option of using a mass of on-reveal bombs with it.

Why do unguided rockets not synergise with him? my thinking in this list was you have your initial payload that hits really hard then for after that you have 4 3 attack ships to help mop up. looking at this list again id already decided to change long range scanners to guidance chips however im unsure wether to get rid of the unguided rockets?

If i remove those and add extra munitions surely all that means is i get two shots then the bombers become sitting ducks?

Thoughts?

You can't use his rerolls on Unguided ROckets.

Oh no!!! i completely overlooked that text on the unguided rockets :/ well that will teach me to try and be clever. So if iv not got unguided rockets on them and i replace with more munitions how badly does that effect you. I always thought the issue with bombers is that after their payload is dropped they are a bit stuffed if you havent done enough damage hence why i thought unguided rockets coupled with jonus may be a solution.

Could Anyone who plays bombers give me any insight on this? Or do you literally just trust that you will kill everything before running out of munitions?

I don't rely on just bombers.

TBH investing too much in one-shot munitions is a great way to lose - most bombers won't fire more than two missiles before dying, if they're lucky. If they're unlucky, just the one.

My favourite list with bombers at the moment is Quckdraw, Tomax and Deathfire. Using FCS and Targetting SYnc to fire HOming MIssiles with focus from the two bombers. It's really neat and very difficult to avoid the alpha.

Sorry for the noob interruption, but...

I keep seeing all these lists around here with unguided rockets, and I've never heard of them, nor can I figure out what set they come with. Help!

I have been looking for a list to use quick draw in so i will deffinitly try that out thanks.

However if i was to attempt a 4xbomber list would these changes to what i originally posted make it work better?

I wouldn't use the mines. If you're doing UR, just do UR and spam it as much as possible, which is 5x Scimitar with UR and LWF. Maybe change one of them out for a TIE Shuttle with Operations Specialist. The mines antisynergise with UR - if you're using your action for them, you're not using it to fire your rockets.
