Yeah, but 2 xp for a +1 to attack? (the other ability doesn't help in solo).

I am not saying its not a good card, but I don't think it will change him significantly.

How does ignoring retaliate not help in solo?

Being able to ignore retaliate is pretty huge. It means you can risk attacking even when it`s less likely to succeed.

Good points, I was misremembering its special effect (I was remembering it was more like Blackjack). Yeah that's pretty good, you can really push your luck if need be.

It's also pretty great at higher difficulties, where your luck gets pushed whether you like it or not.

Mark Harrigan is very good solo.

I think I would add Yorick to the list I made earlier. I think any Survivor so far can solo, because Survivors have ways to mitigate failures, and it helps make a solo run smoother.
