Confluence of Magic and cards that recast runes.

By WWHSD, in Runewars Rules Questions

Does Confluence of Magic make cards like Greyhaven Channeler and Malcorne's Bequest useless after runes are cast at the start of the first round? It looks like those cards are triggered by actually casting the runes during the correct phase and not just by hitting the bit of the end phase when runes would be recast.

'Confluence of Magic - 0
Setup
Each player takes 3 objective tokens. Then, starting with the player who did not choose this card, the players take turns placing the tokens at range 1-2 of their opponent's deployment area but beyond range 1 of terrain, other objective tokens, or the edge of the play area.
During Play
When a unit overlaps an objective token, place that token on that unit's card. When a unit is destroyed, place any objective tokens from its card on the play area in the center of where the unit's last tray was positioned.
Do not recast the energy tokens during the End Phase. All units gain the following:

Skill: Recast a number of energy tokens equal to the objective tokens on your unit card.'

I agree. That's how it looks to me.

Yep. They'd only work on the initial cast of the Runes. At 6 points they are probably not worth the points with this objective.

Greyhaven Channeler is looking more and more powerful to me, not just for what it can add for Daqan, but for what it can take away from Waiqar.

That there's one scenario that hurts him, that you have a 50-50 chance of avoiding by being first player, seems like a fair trade off to me. At a minimum it requires the player to think through a list that isn't completely dependent on him.

This doesn't seem like it would come up that often, but this objective does put a pin in those upgrades. I'm not sure how significant it would be for a player to see that objective as an option, see his opponent is using 1 or more rune-modifying upgrades and then pick it. 6+ points wasted.

Then again, I'm not sold on the Greyhaven Channeler. 6 points, 1/1 defense and health, and you have to exhaust the card for a 50/50 chance to change 2 runes? Meh. If you could flip them instead of recast I'd be more interested.
