Chirrut Imwe Crew Ideas

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing

Chirrut Imwe (crew)

rebel only

At the start of the combat phase you may discard this card to protect a friendly ship. That ship may change all defense dice it rolls to evade results until the end of the phase.

3(?) points

It has to be some kind of rebel-only discard to protect kind of thing. Kind of weird that we don't already have this character or type of card, right?

I was thinking discard to force the opponent to re-rolls all attack dice for an attack agaidnt the ship he's on. Alternatively, discard to prevent all opponent's dice modification on the attack. Too bad Baze already has a card, he could do the same, but on offense. Discard to prevent any defensive dice modification for a turn.

@ TasteTheRainbow Two words: Biggs Darklighter.

Doesn't have a crew slot.

Edit: was thinking of my suggestion, not to OPs, narcissitically.

Dual card

One side:

I'm one with the Force;

Another:

the Force is with me.

I honestly don't think Chirrut really fits in X-Wing. He doesn't do anything at all in the film when any of the ships are in flight.

The only thing he does that's relevant to ship combat at all is snipe a TIE with his bow thingy. Maybe Action: make the following attack. Attack: attack one ship in your primary arc. 3 dice, range 1, no mods, no more attacks this phase.

I think the point was this card and it's proposed effect would make Biggs a (bigger?) problem.

Ask Justin Phua, he'll be designing it! Said his Worlds card design will be based on Donnie Yen.

You mean unlike Boshek, Greedo, Baze Malbus, C-3PO, Rebel Captive...

C-3PO at least flies in a ship during aerial/space combat, but I'd say the same about Baze (and let's face it the U Wing is pretty much a mess when it comes to representing what should actually have been in it from the movie anyway; I'd prefer to see Chirrut crew than Bistan, but I'd prefer to see K2SO pilot and crew than either), and I think Bo Shek and Greedo are both pilots in their backstory.

Rebel Captive is basically a generic that's unique because it would be broken otherwise so it doesn't really count in context, but it makes perfect sense for it to exist and affect aerial/space battles.

But yeah, there are a lot of crew cards that don't make a lot of sense to me in the game.

If you go with the martial arts side of Chirrut, and using the opponents force against them...

"Once per turn when defending you may cancel one [focus] result from the attacker's dice. If you do so the attacker suffers one damage. If you have a stress token you may not use this ability."

The other thign that might make sense would be serenely evading fire.

At the start of the combat phase you may discard this card to remove all target locks assigned to you. If you do, until you next make an attack, no ship may declare you the target of an attack if it could declare another ship as its target.

Basically, make yourself immune to enemy fire until you've done your job XD

Let him turn a critical to a hit once per turn when defending. Either just on his own ship or up to range 1

Oh neat. I'm so behind on podcasts I hadn't heard this.

Avoid all damage during a turn and deal 3 hits to every ship at ranges 1-3

Cost: 31

He is on the expertise card using this scene.

Actually a dual sided crew card would be neat

"Im one with the Force" - modify something offensively like red dice

"The Force is with me" - modify defense dice or add evade

Possibly make it where when you activate or use one side it forces you to flip to the other?

I see someone right above me got their Ninja skills in...he was clearly more one with the Force than I was

Treat focus results as blank and blank results as focus.

Im not sure if I want a regenning Norra with a 5 very high efficent attack. She rolls three die (avg is hit, eye, blank), ablity +1 eye, Chirrut +1 eye. On average she is getting 4 hits.

I'm not sure I want Rey and Finn to have another friend either... but it seemed appropriate in design.

I like this, cos he's blind but works anyway. How about he means you can spend a focus token to flip blanks?

Yea, maybe your choice, either flip focuses or flip blank results..
