Need advise.

Hey guys. I bought a bunch of Awakenings cards to have good decks to play with my son, wife and some of his friends. We don't have a community around here yet and even with that said I am more of a play at home kinda guy.

Anyway, when I started I was all excited about collecting. I tend to go over board in hobbies of all types. CCG's tend to be my biggest weakness. So, I bought the entire set of Awakenings and tons of good cards from both it and SOR so that we would have the best cards and decks to play. Let's face it, the game is more fun with good cards.

Now we have settled in our on main decks and you know kids, they have changed there minds as to what they want to play. Alright, so have I.

To make things more challenging, I bought a big expensive case/bag from battle foam to keep out treasures in. Now I have looked into selling most of the currently non-used dice back to Miniatures Market for tons of cash and even more trade amount, but at a big loss from what I originally paid for them. OK problem to have, right? But I am having second thoughts about selling. I know I don't need 4 Force Chokes and the likes. But looking at an empty case where dice should be makes me feel stupid for jumping in so fast.

I love the game. But I am loving the game more than collecting if that makes sense. Should have known better. This what has happened to me in my other CCG's as well.

What should I do, keep, sell, or trade? LOL.....

If you're asking the Internet for financial advice, well, I know a down-on-his-luck Nigerian prince who could use your help. 1000% return, guaranteed.

I'd say keep 'em. You never know when you'll want them again, and later on you might find someone who wants to trade some new cards for them. Also, as long as people continue to play the game, the value of old cards will only go up. Unless you're really, really sure you'll never want the cards again, in which case sell before the reprints this summer lower their values,

Keep your set, sell on eBay what you don't need. It's a pain sometimes, but I have funded 2x all cards and 4x neutral cards ( including legendary) by moving the extras on eBay.

Don't give your cards to another entity (like MM) just so that they can profit off them. If they want them, then they are worth more than they offer. Sell yourself. Put up with the headache of posting and shipping and you could recover your entire Destiny expense.

Reprints won't necessarily lower their value. There's just as much of a chance that more cards will drive demand further, stabilizing or increasing their value instead.

Thanks guys for the honest advise and humorous comments and advise.

Back in the day I used to sell my old consoles to fund my new consoles. Out with the Sega Genesis and forty games, in with the PS1 new from the store. Out with the PS1 with thirty-five games, in with the GameCube new from the store. Repeat ad nauseum.

And without fail, I always wish I'd kept the old console. Especially the PS1.

Moral of the story? Don't buy a GameCube.

Exactly

Keep them. I try to collect 2 of every villian, hero and 4 of all the others. I want to be able to make 2 good decks. One of each, villian and Hero.

Don't sell it off at chump change. If nothing else you'll have good trade stock for getting later sets at a greatly reduced cost.

A new card set could make old character's playable again. Then you will wish you had them

Thanks guys. I have decided to hold onto everything for now. Man MM is going to be pissed!

Just tell her that it will save you money in the long run

I honestly am interested in seeing where the financial value of these cards go. The price is high from initial release and it's hard to say if it'll truly go down from here. I expect a dip in price in the next year for most cards but subsequent year gains in popular cards if they aren't aggressively reprinted.

Yeah, same here. I'm not really looking to sell anything (I'm a Star Wars hoarder) but I'll be intetested to see. I think the reprints this summer are supposed to take the prices down by producing so much stock, but after that, Awakenings and Spirit of Rebellion will never be printed again. So, as long as people continue to play (which seems like it'll be a long time, fingers crossed), the prices for old cards should only go up.

Let us hope. But prices going down only matter to me when buying. The selling thing for me was not to make money but to get rid of things I am not using or needing. Of course price drops when trying to sell sucks but it is worth for those of us who love to buy new cards for our collections.

I guess I would say then that if you're really looking to just get rid of stuff you're not using or needing, you could look for a local game cafe near you when Empire at War comes out and see if people want to trade some of that stuff for your old stuff. I know that I didn't figure I'd like this game so much, and I still have some major gaps in my collection of Awakenings stuff. I'm sure there's people who would be happy to trade for it.

Yeah. I did the opposite I bought all the Awakening cards. I don't have doubles of every color or 4 neutrals of everything but at least one of's. Now I love this game so much that I want tons of decks more than collecting. And I want each deck to have all the cards to avoid swapping out from other decks.
