[Mafia] Remote Lothal Outpost - Finished

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Sometimes you wonder why you were assigned to this remote outpost in the middle of nowhere. Lothal already isn't the most amazing planet to be assigned to, and this lone Imperial outpost isn't even very well staffed, and almost seems forgotten by the Empire at large. Now, you're worried Rebel saboteurs have infiltrated your outpost, disguised as loyal soldiers of the Empire.

Night 0

Not a Real Player has been found, shot in the back. You recognize him as Loyal Imperial Trooper BG-1403.

It is up to you to stop them before they can seize the outpost!

THE RULES, BRIEFLY:
No editing your posts.
No talking Out Of Thread unless you are able to do so.
Don't post your role PM.
Don't spectator-post or like.
Don't post after hammers or daykills.
Don't post after dying.
Don't fake day actions.
DON'T EDIT YOUR POSTS.

We're going to play some Forums Mafia, with me as your GM. I've run mafia games before on other sites, so why not have people hate one another here for reasons other than arguing over squadrons being OP?

How do I play?

Well first you want to sign up. We will be taking 11 players, with 2-3 "Rebel Scum" trying to control the outpost and 8-9 "Loyal Imperials" hunting them down. Every "Day" (which will last for 2 days or a majority vote) the players will attempt to gather information on who they suspect to be Rebel Scum. The players will then attempt to convince a majority of the town to get rid of this traitor. You can do this by typing "##Vote PlayerName". You only get one vote, so if you vote again it changes your vote to another player. You can also "##vote no one" and skip your lynch for the day if the majority agrees. This is not a good idea. You are disposable Imperial Troopers, and catching the Rebels is more important than one or two of you being killed by mistake. It is important to always be communicating. If someone is being quiet after all, they may just be Rebel Scum trying to hide their true identity!

After the day ends, or the "hammer" falls (a majority votes on a target) it becomes Night on Lothal. Loyal Imperial Troopers turn in for the night, and the Rebel Scum sneak out and cause mayhem. The Rebels are able to "##Kill" an Imperial player each night, so you'll have to find them quickly! Fortunately some of you may be better than the average trooper, and have your own strengths that come into play at nightfall.

What If I am not Playing?

Then please don't post in this thread, or like posts in this thread. You can certainly read it, though.

How do I win?

Imperials win if all the Rebel Scum have been eliminated from the game!

Rebels win if they outnumber the Loyal Imperials during the day.

Why not, I'm in.

Sgt. Madaghmire reporting for duty sir. We'll get those filty Rebels.

I'm in it to win it!

I'll play mostly because I have no idea how forum mafia could be fun.

I'm interested in playing, but you'd have to explain the practicalities a bit. I.e., how would people vote without revealing their identity? If the rebs come out and then vote, wouldn't their posts ID them? Also, what do you mean by 'Don't fake day-actions'?

So again, I'd love to play, just please clarify for me the technical bits, since there's clearly something I'm missing. . .

I am in.

Ok, I'll give this a try.

Voting is easy! You vote for who you think is Rebel Scum. The Rebels do have to be careful though, if they all vote at once for the same person that flips Loyal Imperial, the other Loyal Imperials will quickly be on to them! One way to hunt out the Rebels is to examine an incorrect vote, and figure out who was was pushing for it the strongest, who bandwagoned on, who was trying to hedge their bets - almost like they knew for the person being voted out was a Loyal Imperial, something only the Rebel Scum would know!

All you need to do to vote is vote for somebody. You don't have to reveal who you are to vote.

Day actions are something that might be in your role. For example, in some Mafia games, you might have a "##dayvig [playername]" which lets you remove someone from the game during the daytime. If you don't explicitly have this ability, faking it is a big no-no, because the game has to be paused until the moderator (me) can show up to either confirm the action and reveal the player's role and remove them from the game, or refute the action in which case the person that shouldn't have been able to do what they are trying to do gets kicked unceremoniously from the game instead.

If you have any further questions, just let me know.

4 slots left!

Yes sorry, but I'm still confused: Rebels come out at night to vote who to kill. . . where do they vote, if voting here would instantly show to everyone that they are rebels? And who then reports there decision (I assume it's you)? Also, wouldn't reporting your day activity reveal your role?

I mean, I get the basic rules, having played similar games, I just don't get how it's implemented on a public forum. . .

Rebels will have a **super secret** place to plot and plan their night kills. Everyone else can just PM me their night actions if they have one.

Also, successfully performing a day action reveals your role, but not your faction. Not to worry though, there are no day actions in this game. So anyone that tries to do one is just killing themselves.

So the game goes:

Day: Everybody votes on this forum to determine who's a rebel, one person dies, revealing his/her role

Night: Rebels kill someone, 'witch' (if existing) heals/kills somebody, etc

Repeat?

Correct!

Great thanks!

Because you get to play mafia with me. Its an experience.

Biggs, any power roles such as Garindan aka cop? And Bevel Lemelisk aka Doc?

ps I'm down for this

Edited by Ginkapo

There will be some power roles, yes. Game balance dictates the setup must be secret.

3 slots remain. I kinda wish I put this in the main forum, but really if there was ever a thread that deserved the "Off Topic" forum, it is this one.

Can I write up some examples as someone who doesnt know the setup? Just figuring that players new to mafia may need some guidance in this respect.

Absolutely! Go nuts.

I'll jump in

Main source of roles is here: https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Category:Roles_Main_Page

For this game the likely roles (though by the sounds they may be different)

Imperial Stormtrooper - You have no night action
Garindan (Cop) - Each night you may visit one player and check their midichlorian count and determine their alliegance.
Bevel Lemelisk (Doc) - Each night you may protect one player by shielding them from lightsaber attacks. You cannot protect yourself.

Jedi - Your padawan is "insert name here", each night you may agree a target to kill. You may communicate during the night here: https://www.quicktopic.com/

I have never played Mafia but will give it a try.

Yay! One slot left!
