Raider or Gozanti?

I got my raider for 43 ish.

Barns and Nobles sells X-wing stuff, if you have a membership for their year thing, it brings the cost of toys down by 10% ontop of any sales. If you find a coupon for a toy it also applies with the discount from the membership. In short my raider was 60 on sale and with discounts it was 43 ish. Amazon warehouse will sell damaged boxes cheaper then the normal cost, Min Market will sale damaged boxes at their store much cheaper. Discounts on ships are out there if you look around or wait till Black Friday or sale palp along with 2 sets of the tie advanced titles. I will not quote 2nd hand prices but would not be surprised if selling cards from the raider would net you a Goz.

Haha, I got you beat on that. Amazon Prime Days had it on sale for $52 before christmas, so I picked up my second Raider, and then sold off Palp and the non epic stuff to a local guy for $45. Nothing like a $7 Raider (that'll never see the table because I can never get anyone to play epic, nevertheless a giant game of epic).

Yeah, I know. But some people don't. So I did TIE/F for all those non-nerds like us.

And here I thought you meant TIE/FO as a typo.

After selling 3 adv titles my raider was free :-p

I was first thinking about the SF as typo, but from the context a typo for LN made more sense ^_^

In any event, TIE/F is not a good idea to shorthand Tie fighter. Although, I guess it is semi-official:

The TIE/LN starfighter , [23] or TIE/line starfighter , simply known as the TIE Fighter or T/F , [24] was the standard Imperial starfighter seen in massive numbers throughout most of the Galactic Civil War and onward. Colloquially, Rebel and New Republic pilots referred to the craft as " eyeballs ." [25

Exactly! Toys! :D

The Gozanti is basically the "fix" ship for all of Epic. Ordinance Tubes, Optimized Generators, and Automated Protocols are all integral parts of Huge ship list building. Getting one now makes any future Epic ships an even better deal.

I want to know which ship I should buy to go up against the new C-ROC that I am getting for my brother. Which is more effective in a 300 point game as well as which is better for standard play and tournaments?

If you are looking to go up against the C-ROC....and have it about equivalent, then I say the Gozanti. Both the ships are good and have good upgrades, but the Gozanti is closer to the same power level of the C-ROC. If you are looking to create fun games vs. your brother, then I say go for the same power level. It will be balanced and more fun. It means you can have your epic ship...give it some toys, and still have a bunch of small ships to fight it out.

Who in the world does not proxy cards with when playing epic? There are no tournaments for epic ( exaggeration ) so there is no need to buy cards.

You certainly _can_ proxy cards when playing any casual match. And if you don't have the cards, you're more than welcome to proxy them in any match I play with you. However! The cards take a _whole lot of time and effort_ to develop. So FFG should be compensated for that.

And the Gozanti is a fun ship.

Nope, I am not feeling it. Not when FFG continue to invalidate my epic purchases with errata, hides fixes behind paywalls and designs expansions around upgrade cards for tournament players. They are getting already more than they deserve. Actually I am feeling more like 3D printing the models myself too, I have to print the cards myself anyway as they keep changing the text on those. ;-)

But the Gozanti is not a Decimator. Docking Clamps paired with Vector. Suppressor with Grand Moff Tarkin . Vader crew with Shield Technician. The turret is a bonus not what it's built around. I also rate the GR75 above the Corvette and that doesn't even have an attack! Toryn Farr, Frequency Jammer and Dutyfree is simply awful to play against. These small epic ships are incredible for their points.

I bolded the tough call, here. Grand Moff Tarkin comes with the Raider. If he came with the Imperial Assault Carrier, the decision would be easy . I still think the Gozanti is the way to go, but I'd miss the Grand Moff more than I'd miss the Emperor.

But do you know who does come in the Imperial Assault Carrier Expansion Pack? Rear Admiral Chiraneau. You can launch all 4 TIEs in a single round without the Vector title because you maneuver twice, and can release two TIEs after each maneuver. Pick Suppressor or Requiem to best support your squad, and you're ready for some deployment fun. Not to mention the extra chances of crashing into enemy ships.

If FFG had put enough time and effort in there would be no need for a fix ship.

Never used RAC like that. He'll be awesome with Requiem 4x PS8 ships unleashed on the Rebel scum  it'll be my next surprise for them

As we are talking about friendly epic games, Tarkin is just one print button away.
Now the raider is still the most beautiful piece on any x-wing table.

I remember when I first started and I only wanted a few ships for the rebels and few for the imperials. I remember scoffing at how expensive the EPIC ships were. It was in these early times I remember trying to decide between adding a B-wing or an A-wing....I eventually decided on the B-wing but of course I then found myself going back to the store a month later and picking up the A-wing. I soon realized that I was going to own at least 1 of every small and large ship.

Then came the day when I realized I needed at least 1 EPIC ship so i was deciding on either the Transport or the Tantive. Fast forward a few months and I think you know what happened.

My point to the OP is: it doesn't matter. If you're already considering buying an epic ship, you're going to own all the epic ships.

TBot, I've just bought my 2nd CR90....to go with the other 7 huge ships....mistakes have indeed been made, according to my wife!

Man, shouldn't have come in here. Now I want a Gozanti. And a C-ROC. And maybe even a raider.

I have the GR75. The CR90 I go back and forth on because yes it's rebels but it also isn't as cool looking (my opinion) and isn't as effective in epic as any of the other options from any faction. Or so I've been told. I like the arcs on the raider more than the CR90 but the CR has a turret (kind of)

haha gotta catch em all! Don't knock how the CR90 looks until you see it in person. Its my favorite looking ship I own. Its the only ship that has engine burns on the aft, and it looks amazing i wish they did it on more ships. Also it is just so iconic because one the best star wars scenes (in my opinion) takes place on it. (Rogue one: Vader Killing Spree Scene)
