Wardancer and 2 weapons

By roy.altman.7, in WFRP Rules Questions

Had our first session today - just 2 players for now (2 more are creating their characters...) -- was amazing fun.

Anyway, one character is a wardancer and it said that they use 2 long blades.

Is that a must? Cause other careers can use ritual dances and the cards themselves don't require 2 weapons.

Is there a benefit for using 2 swords? More damage?

Can she use the block action card for having a sword in her offhand?

Are there rules for wielding two weapons that I missed?

Thanks,

Roy

What you read was just a discription of what the normal wardancer has, sort of a guideling.

It is definately not a restriction.

Can't use block when wielding two weapons, that's one of the things that keeps the double strike action card in check...

if the war dancer is going to use two blades, that's an action card worth taking.

If you have a weapon with 'defensive' quality in your off-hand (like Main Gauche) than your parry action adds additional misfortune die to the attack.

Btw. if I recall correctly in 1st ed. Wardancers were allowed to use just thrown weapons as for range attacks (no bows) - is there any mention about that? And just one more question, as the AT is still not available here, what are Wardancers primary characteristics?

Hi

Thanks for the replies - I just found the double-strike action card last night happy.gif A must have for 2 weapon fighting!

And I'll also tell her about the main gauche thing - I missed that. But doesn't that contradict the thematic fact that they use 2 long blades? I mean, how serious should I be about that, or should I just let her use any combinations of weapons? GM call - I know gui%C3%B1o.gif

Its fluff, so as you say GM call; if they don't go for two blades though, you can sting them with misfortune dice when the pc needs to make a social action invovling elves or something....!
