Don't hassle the Heff

By player2456237, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys,

I'm determined to take X-Wings to a tournament. I know I won't win but equally don't want to get smashed. What do you think to this?

Heff Tobber 24, saboteur 2, jyn erso 2, title, enhanced scopes 1, ion projector 2.

Garven Dreis 26

Rookie Pilot 21

Rookie Pilot 21

99 total

I figure that flying Heff at the front of a formation of 3 X-Wings could be devastating if flown correctly.

Thought?

Tober with Zeb, Jyn, FCS, and tactical jammer and Biggs flying behind has worked well for me so far. You could easily fill in the rest in a lot of ways

Swap out Biggs for Garven and you're probably on to something. Saboteur is too high variance to use effectively and enhanced scopes won't gain you too much on Heff. Maybe something like this?

Biggs Darklighter (25)
R3-A2 (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Heff Tobber (24)
Fire-Control System (2)
Jyn Erso (2)
"Zeb" Orrelios (1)
Tactical Jammer (1)
Pivot Wing (0)

Rookie Pilot (21)

If you shave a point on Biggs's astromech, you would have enough to run intergrated on the other t-65's too

Duh, yeah...good point!

Huh...is there any chance that two rookie pilots is better than one Norra (think of the Heff/Biggs/Norra list).

I think the PS and dual arc for Norra and the crew slot gives her an edge, but there is probably a lot of variants that could be put together with Biggs and Heff

OP, I would drop Garven for Jess Pava though. And lighten Heff a bit, so you can have astromechs.

Thanks for all your help. Frustratingly I don't own a Ghost or Integrated Astros. I love the idea of Tactical Jammer with Biggs behind, but again, no Tactical Jammer.

I have swapped Saboteur for Cassian and enhanced scopes for FCS.

Its not optimal but its the best I have.

Maybe a rich relative that I've never met will leave me loads of money. Who knows!

Thanks

I like how you got a U-Wing in there :)

Player.... What do you have in your collection? Maybe we can suggest something completely different for you that you haven't thought of yet.....

Fair warning, the T-65 is deffinitely over costed (ie squishy) without I.A. Might be worth picking up the T-70 blister pack there is at least one in there.

Cheers. Of rebels I have 2 cores, 1 T-65 expansion, 1 Rebel Veterans, 1 U-Wing and 1 E-Wing expansion.

Any ideas would be great. I will also change my account name Jswindy, lol. player2456237 isn't that catchy.

I really like Heff, he's top quality.

I was unsure if he needed Enhanced Scopes but if you come against a swarm of PS1 or something you'll wish you kept it in. Like Anti-Pursuit Lasers myself but I haven't tried T Jammer.

Why is Zeb so important? Not sure I understand the benefit.

Heff moves and focuses. Enemy bumps into Heff. Heff gets a TL with his ability. Now Heff can fire a full mod range 1 at enemy. And if Biggs is behind Heff, the enemy ship has to fire at Biggs, not Heff, lol. I annhiliated many ships at regionals back in January using Heff and Biggs.

Enhanced scopes will make flying the list a lot easier as well. Keeping PS2's behind a large PS3 ship and near Biggs as well, is really tough. They move first, then Heff moves faster than them, then Biggs.

Yeah that's a good point, I guess just that Heff takes a full attack back as well (although the opponent would have lost their actions).

I don't ever use Biggs so I guess that makes it.

OK, so there may be an upgrade or two involved in this that you don't have, but its just an idea that would possibly hold up to the META. The key would be to fly Biggs behind Heff if you have access to tactical jammer, and then jyn the heck out of him. Then if you get the block, you can do the same on to heff or horn. The other fun part (takes some practice) is to keep Biggs right behind heff rng1, then flip heff and k-turn Biggs right over to maintain the plan. Don't be scared to bump Biggs into heff if you can get a jyn on him.

Super Biggs Sqaud - For Player :) (100)

Heff Tobber (28) - U-Wing - Enhanced Scopes (1), Jyn Erso (2), Pivot Wing (0), Tactical Jammer (1)

Biggs Darklighter (27) - X-Wing - R7 Astromech (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Corran Horn (45) - E-Wing - Push The Limit (3), R2-D2 (4), Advanced Sensors (3)

To get Biggs behind heff, start heff farthest from edge. Have Biggs a 1 straight from heffs rear lined up sideways. Then 2 straight heff, and 3 turn Biggs. Did this in regionals. Opponents get intimidated since it looks like you have flown the list 100 times, haha.

Love it. Tactical Jammer and integrated astromech won't be too tricky to get hold of.

The starting maneuvers are great wurms. I will give it a go on my dinner table.

You can also be a bit more aggressive with a 3-forward from Heff and a 3-turn from Biggs...just position Biggs a little "higher" up in relation to Heff. I generally set up a big rock at 2-2ish on the opposing side of where I plan to set up. If my opponent sets up on that side, it often sets up a 3-forward from Heff on turn 1 and then get off a Seismic on turn 2 by doing a 1-bank or a 2-straight.
