Today I re-ran the numbers on the tourney and the SoS was hosed. The winner in Bakersfield shouldn't have made the cut.

would the Kylo player still have made the top 4?

Leia herself having a 50% chance to roll damage and a 33% to roll 2 damage is good. Those percentages are the same for every weapon in the deck, meaning that you can still just hard roll damage even in melee matchups.
Obviously, It's a Trap loses significant value against melee decks, but I would not go so far to say it has no value. I have been playing and refining this deck myself since SoR's release, and I still get some value from the card against non-ranged decks. Using It's A Trap to get to Ackbar's double focus is helpful, particularly if you also have All In ready to play. On a few occasions, I have even used It's a Trap to get a few resources, when I had multiple upgrades in hand, which set me up great for the next round. In short, the card is not dead against non-ranged, albeit it ceases to be such a huge threat. Thanks!

yes,
Top 4 breakdown wouldn't have changed, 4th place Poe/Maz would've been a different Poe/Maz, that was 3-0 and only lost to the #2 player's Poe/Maz

Yes. I removed "It's a Trap" from my Poe/Snap deck but missed it. There were many new enticing SOR event cards I wanted to try. Needless to say IAT is back home where he belongs. Now if I could just fit Dug In back into the deck.

Runner-up: eVader(SoR)/eKylo
Top 4: eQui-Gon/eRey and ePoe/eMaz
This is just oppressive. How the hell are Luke, Jyn, and Obi-Wan costed higher than Poe and how the hell is Maz only 11 points for elite? The consistency with which the deck does 10+ damage a turn is ridiculous. It's not even fun to play let alone play against but I guess people care more about winning than having fun and being creative.
Have you ever played it? If not, than please try it and than return. You definitely do not do 10+ damage per turn consistently (actually to do 10+ damage per turn you need either thermal with multiiple targets or late game upgrades/PU in play) and eventhough it is tier1 aggro deck in its pure form, it is beatable and it has its own structural issues which can be abused. The deck itself is quite interesting and has its ways and interesting choices (mind that 90% of decklists of Poe/Maz on SWDB are total garbage) and despite already playing like 70 games with the deck, I still enjoy its gameplay and it is far from autopilot when you want to play it correctly. It has close matchup with other 1/2 character aggro lists and it can be controlled by heavy discard decks.
It started in December 2016 with Jango/Veers whine, than Vader/Raider, Hyperloops deck than Force Speed, few weeks ago it was Second Chance / Ammo Belt abuse and now it is Poe/Maz. Poeple tend to overreact on some aspects of the game and do statements on internet instead of creatively thinking how to adapt and use the meta in their own way.
To answer your questions: because Obi Wan and Luke have their own sides with 3 damage unpaid together with very good passive ability. Maz is worth of 11 points for elite because her dice when used for focus than give 0 by themselves and you basicly play only with your other two dice only making yourself vulnerable to dice removal. Also she has only 8HP which means she can be killed turn 1 and finally her die is the worst in the game. You basically pay only for her ability and focus. You can compare her pretty safely to Rey which is 12 point elite for 10HP, almost the same power level of passive ability and better die.

It was awesome to see the Knights of Ren in attendance. Rick from the Knights of Ren was the Quigon/Rey Pilot who placed top 4 after going undefeated in Swiss.
Interesting Note:
Both 1st, place and second place had builds rather similar, but unique builds to these variants.

So results are coming in store championships ( http://www.thechancecube.com/meta/2017-store-championships-meta-report/ ) that contradict your assessment that it's just another deck that people complain about not an issue. Poe's ability to circumvent the economy of the game ( which primarily involves playing supports/upgrades/rolling them/re-reolling them to get damage ) is an issue will only get worse for every set. If you have a deck which consistently beats Poe / Maz I'd love to see it.

Curious what your Poe/Maz build is. Mind sharing?
Lets be clear. Poe Maz is NOT Jango Veers. Jango Veers was NEVER a good deck. It could get lucky and one shot but thats about it. If you played around it properly you were fine. Poe Maz can lead to a really awful NPE where you can't control/mitigate your opponent and they are just action cheating to victory. It is not unbeatable but it is certainly faceroll winning and very unfun to play against.
Also Obi is severely overcosted. That card is all but unplayable sadly. Lukes dice area bit bad but hes fine. And I notice you didnt mention Jyn... She should be 18...or if anything.. 16 =/
Nothing you listed even comes close to the Poe Maz NPE.
Hyperloop never won a major event. It wasn't ever a thing. It could be an NPE but got errata'd to stop future abuse (planetary).
Vader Raider is still a seriously good deck and won worlds...but i dont remmeber anyone saying it was broken.
Jango Veers was a joke deck when people were learning the game. It was horrible at mitigating luck and never won anything, then died. Only newbs complained about this.
Second Chance/ Ammo belt is fine. in a tournament setting it literally doesn't matter. You can heal 5 all you want...you are going to lose on tie breakers at time.
People who abuse bad acronyms make me sad for the English language.
