Store Championships 2017 Results Thread

By davidhaus, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hey guys,

This is DHaus from the Jedi Trials podcast. As part of the podcast and a general fan of the game, I like to keep track of tournament results. I'd like to start this thread that tracks Store Championships results all in one place for those interested. This has been widely successful in X-Wing forums for tracking results. If you guys can help, I believe the whole community will benefit.

Here is what I need. If you have a result to report, please post the following:

  • Location of event (store and city, state)
  • Number of players
  • Winner's Name
  • Winning deck (I'll probably just report the starting characters, but feel free to post the whole decklist or a link to swdestinydb in the thread if you'd like.)
  • Other decks in the Top 4

I'll try to track results and post in the next two comments that I've reserved below. Here's an example of what I'll post:

  • Tattooine Comics, Los Angeles, California
  • 27 players
  • Winner: George Lucas
  • Winning Deck: eMothma/eAckbar
  • Other decks in top 4: Triple Rebel Troopers (2nd), Han/Luke (3rd/4th), Obi/eSnap (3rd/4th)

(Clearly my fictitious example was a fierce competition...)

Thanks in advance for your help in reporting Store Champ results!

Did you happen to play the Leia/Ackbar deck? I'm still working on running this with SOR updates.

Wouldn't it make sense for the player who gets knocked out in the semi-finals by the player who wins the tournament to be 3rd, and the player who gets knocked out by the player who places 2nd to get 4th.

Sure, but often times those placings aren't determined officially, as the prizes for top 4 are the same. If a store determines its own special prize for 3rd that the 4th place person doesn't get, then they'll probably go that far in determining placing. My example was just more stereotypical of how most stores will report final standings.

I did. It performed very consistently. I was 4-0 through the Swiss rounds and lost in the top 4 to my good buddy running Luke/Ackbar. He got his draw perfectly (got and used both leaderships, played a force robes into lightsaber, etc.) and I missed mine badly. This was the only game where I didn't draw a weapon until Leia was dead.

Leia/Akbar losing to melee.. if you take "Its A Trap" out of the deck it is t2 at best. Can it beat melee centric decks? Sure... but not nearly as consistent.

Perhaps, but I still won but games where I knew "It's A Trap" had no value because of the consistent damage sides on all of the weapons in the deck. Leia herself having a 50% chance to roll damage and a 33% to roll 2 damage is good. Those percentages are the same for every weapon in the deck, meaning that you can still just hard roll damage even in melee matchups.

I know there are several Store Championships happening today (including one I'm going to). Please report results here if possible! Thanks in advance!

Otto's in Bakersfield, Ca:

24 players

Poe/Maz won

Top 4 were ALL Poe/Maz.

Wow

Wow!

But not surprising. This deck is very strong AND i'd say most importantly, easy to play.

This is not true. Post Swiss:

1. Poe/Maz
2. Poe/Maz
3. Baby Vader / Kylo
4. Poe/Maz.

Store messed things up. They made 1 (me) play 2 in the cut, and made it best one 1.

Poe / Maz went 17-4 across the whole tournament, 4 of those games were the mirror matches. It was 13-0 against other decks.

How many Maz/Poe decks where there? That 13-0 vs other is what is scaring me. I know FFG is watching.

One event, small sample size, and nobody's even mentioned what those 'other decks' were yet; 13-0 is hardly impressive against, I dunno, ePhasma / eVentress. Let's not get our underoos in a bunch just yet.

8 of the Top 10 was:

4 Poe / Maz

2 Vader / Raider (Mike from SW Destiny.com was one)

1 Baby Vader / Kylo

1 Qui-Gon / Rey

Personally I beat 3rd (Baby Vader / Kylo), 4th (and eventual winner) (Poe / Maz), 5th (Vader / Raider) and 14th (Vader / Royal Guard)

SoS seemed messed up.

  • Harlequins in Preston UK
  • 24
  • Andy Hornby
  • Poe/Maz (Surprised?)
  • Luke/Rey (2), ePalp (3) Phasma/Guavian/Death Trooper (4)

Poe Maz went 4-0 in swiss, didn't drop a round in top cut. There was another Poe/Maz which went 3-1, lost to the Luke/Rey deck. Lots of Vader/Raider.

Thanks for the updates, guys. Here's one I went to and was fortunate enough to win.

  • Bluegrass Magic in Louisville, KY
  • 36 players
  • Winner was David Hausknecht (me)
  • Poe/Maz
  • Top 4: Vader/Royal Guard (2nd), Vader Raider, Vader Raider (TONS of new and old Vader at this SC. Only 3 Poe/Maz decks out of 36).

How many people are running Han/Rey? Not seeing it in the finals, but the build I'm running is beating Poe/Maz 3 out of 4.

Is your build available? I love Han/Rey and just trying to keep it alive. :) I don't get to play too much (and know most of my issues with the deck are from lack of playing it), but really enjoy the deck. If you had a swdestinydb link or something, I'd greatly appreciate it. My less than optimal build is on there as well. Only played in 1 real event with it as it is right now, but went 1-3 against a lot of decks in very close matches. Would like to see it stay alive. :)

I don't have a decklist as I'm constantly tweaking it. It's all ambush, protective mentor and Force Speed.

I built to consistently play my entire hand in one action to combat the Mill decks and Planetary Uprising. The shields usually keep Rey around into late turn two to turn three. It loses when it rolls poor, since it action cheats but doesn't have much dice setting outside the random focus roll.

Problem I'm having is Awakenings Vader. I don't run a lot of die removal, so he's hitting it hard. Kylo/Anakin doesn't so much cause I never have a hand and everything in deck is cheap. But Vader/Raider has been giving it some trouble.
