Colored primer close to Vallejo Buff?

By WWHSD, in Runewars Painting and Modeling

I'm about to start on my second core set's worth or Reanimates. I had primed my first set in black but found that the red paint I was using needed several coats over the black. I got a lot of advice on painting in with red and using a lighter primer was suggested more than once. I was about to pick some white primer but then realized I might be able to save myself some work if I got something that was close to a color that I'm painting with.

I figure that getting something close to the color I'm using for bone would be the way to go. There's not a lot of it on the models but a lot of what is there is kind of small and a pain to paint. I'm using the Vallejo Buff to pain bone. Looking at the Army Painter colored primers, it looks like the Skeleton Bone or Necrotic Flesh might come close. If I'm reading the descriptions correctly Skeleton Bone is the same as the Bleached Bone paint, and Necrotic Flesh is the same as Perfect Matt. Does anyone know how those compare to the Vallejo Buff?

Skeleton bone from Army Painter seems darker. More like Vallejo Khaki. (Comparing pictures of the primer I found online to the paints in front of me).
Washed brown and highlighted back up to Vallejo Buff will give you a nice contrast though.

Looking at other brands - GW's Zandri Dust spray still seems just a little darker than Vallejo Buff but looks like it's warmer than Vallejo Khaki/Army Painter Skeleton bone. (They're pretty close).

You could try an art store for a larger Krylon spray range or Montana Gold sprays. Montana has a very large line of colours but it has been awhile since I've looked (I typically just use the Hazelnut color for 15mm cavalry). I'm pretty sure there's a few whites or a shade somewhat close.

Alternatively, there's always Army Painter's Skeleton Bone spray. Or just use an air spray painter.
