Hopefully something related to my idol, Donnie Yuan

Yuan? Really? DONNIE YEN! :D

He admit it was his list. :o

Hahaha...I am just an above average player who happened to play a right list rightly at the right place and at a right time.

OMG We Need To Nerf Jumpmasters mindlink. They turn Above Average Players into World Champs! (and Biggs too for reasons) :P

You...realize he didn't have mindlink in his list? Clearly we need to just nerf EVERYTHING!

Yup, I know, the mistakes were intentional. I'd just figured I'd beat the nerf herders to the punch wet-noodle slaps in calling for nerfs with this interview as their "definitive" proof as if they were some political pundit.

60 games under his belt with that list, and another 40 with Dengar/Tel variants. 100 games...this guy practiced A LOT.

I have heard a lot of top level players indicate 100 games with a list as a minimum expectation for worlds level play.

Oh if only practice led to success. I ran 50 games with a list before a store championship in 2015. Went something like 43-7 with it so was feeling very good about my chances.

Ended up going 2-2 and 10th place out of 25ish people.

It rewards you based on your deployment and maneuvering

That is how you suppose to fly with Empire ! :P

Generally I prefer to arc dodge than joust

That why people hate Empire and nerf it ! ;)

In the topic of our current world champion..I know Justin personally. He is a very pleasant gentleman and very keen to give advice to newer players. We meet quite often in casual X-wing nights and I played against his previous iteration of Dengar Tel build in the Singapore National Championship 2016.

My first swiss round was against him, and I lost. I'll be honest with you: the list I was playing can be considered as a strong counter against 2 ship builds. But his precision and sound decision making were (and are!) so impressive, it became a memorable experience for me. I could still recount the details of how each round went during that game. Anyway long story short I recovered some lost grounds and managed to make the top 8 cut (going 4-1 out of 5 rounds).

I met Justin again as my first opponent in the quarterfinals.

And lost again.

He's that good alright ;) .

Every games with him have been a great pleasure. I am currently preparing for Singapore National Championship 2017, and will likely play against him again. So I better train harder this time :P

You should tell us more about him. He sounds very interesting. And Singapore should get more spotlight. Go Singapore. =)

(I'm not even from Singapore lol. )

I enjoyed reading about his frame of mind, " I was more or less in harmony within myself as what I wanted and what I needed coincided. "

Sounds to me like he was one with the Force and the Force was with him, to paraphrase Chirrut.

Thanks for the support! :). If I manage to attend and play the SG open, I will do my best make a batrep to share how the #OuterRimMeta looks like in Singapore ;)
