Cards and Ships from EBay?

By Celestial Lizards, in X-Wing

So I was looking for some ships and I cam across the EBay store henrys_outpost ( http://www.ebay.com/usr/henrys_outpost?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 ). He/she sells single upgrade cards as well as ships (very limited supply) with no upgrade cards except titles. Is it worth it for the ships (so I can double up on Decimators) and the cards (maybe I won't have to get a Lambda or Imp Vets).

In general, no, ebay prices for that kind of stuff are not worth it if you're looking to expand your collection. You might get a card from the Lambda now, and in a few months, a card might be released that makes you want to fly a Lambda, so you end up buying the ship anyway.

I would only recommend buying a single ship or upgrade if you desperately need it to run a specific tournament squad and can't afford to buy the whole expansion or would get no value from the rest of the expansion. For example, I wanted to run 5 Autoblaster Y-Wings, but already had two Most Wanted expansions, so I bought the 5th autoblaster turret card off eBay.

So I noticed that people are selling the unnerfed Palp for $20. It is quite expensive, but I could be doing way better in my neighborhood casual tournaments...

It doesn't work that way. Even if you have the old card, you have to use the current version of the card per the FAQ/errata. Sorry.

Dang it. I was hoping my friends wouldn't realize that.

Cards are sometimes worth it. I dont ever plan on buying a second jumpmaster, but need a third attanni mindlink (just been borrowing one for now). Or if you want Kanan crew for your Rey/Poe build, its better spending $3-5 then $40 on a ship you dont plan on buying, at least not at the moment. Even if you do buy it in 6 months or whatever, you can give your extra Kanan to a person in need.

I've bought stuff from that seller. He's quick too.

If mostly what you need is the basic ship model with dial & tokens (not bombs or other upgrade related tokens,) then it's worth it. I got a second "naked" U-wing since the full expansion is loaded with a lot of unique crew and gives you 2 each of expertise, inspiring recruit & Stealth Device. Another set of these weren't all that crucial for the way I build lists/fly ships, so a cheap no upgrade ship worked for my needs.

I would recommend picking up individual cards, as you see fit. For example, I have a personal issue with the Jumpmaster so I highly doubt I'll ever purchase one, but I wanted Dengar and Boba Fett so it was cheaper for me to get those two cards than to buy a ship I have no interest in just for the upgrades. And you can pick up extra misiles/torps or bombs that you either don't have, or don't have enough of. Just remember to set a dollar limit and stick to it.

*saves post*

i've bought a few ships from him. Great service.

I prefer to buy the ships, take what I want from it and sell the rest on eBay, switch up the economics and take the fight to Henry.

curse him AND his outpost!

So we're taking that as an AFFIRM on Henry's Outpost.

I am under a fairly strict economy of auction collectibles for credit to buy new goodies, so I am fortunate to have a b&m store as well as eBay to work this, and I found Henry's to be a good source for cards where I didn't have an immediate need for the ship. Yes, as my collection grew, I bought a ship but having extra cards is not a problem. Henry's is fairly reasonable but more valuable cards make you really think "if I'm paying $6-9 for a card from a $15 ship ... hmmm"

Depends on what you are looking for and what the process are. I have bought a number of upgrade cards off ebay for reasonable prices, also got a couple of extra K-Wings from ebay for good prices. It all comes down to what you want to pay and how badly you want the ship/cards... :)

I've gotten a few cards and ships as well. Example I picked up an extra phantom attack shuttle since I wasn't going to be buying a second ghost. Having an extra card to make a list work is always nice to have that option. There are a few people on ebay that do this and they provide the service of breaking up those boxes and selling out the parts for a price. Just look at the ship or card you want to buy and what else will come with it if you just buy the whole thing. Often you are better off buying retail, other times just buying the part.

When looking at eBay stores, my most frequent thought is,

"We could almost buy our own ship for that!"

I think it can be worth it for cheaper cards, assuming you can get cheap shipping (az98 is cheaper to where I live than henrys_outpost). I also found a good deal on threes of a couple upgrades recently:
