New ryhmer ball

By chr335, in Star Wars: Armada

AN improvement on my old semi perfect fireball. Simple really

Boba fett

Major ryhmer

Dengar

Mauler

Tempest squadron

2x tie defender

Tie advanced

Comes out to 134 of 134 tempted to drop fett in favor of Stele. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Why Tempest Squadron? What does it have to contribute to the Rhymer-ball?

Doesn't it cost the same as another Tie Advanced (to protect Dengar/Rhymer)?

It is one point more has escort and bomber making it the ideal escort for ryhmer and dengar. Escort forces the enemy to shot them instead of rhymer or dengar.

Oh! I'm just an idiot. I was confusing Saber squadron with Tempest squadron.

Carry on. :)

Stele over Fett any day of the week.

Also missing Jendon, which if you have any squadron 20 pts or over should essentially be an auto include as a force multiplier.

I don't see Mauler helping this too much as without leaning heavily into flight controllers, Howlrunner, etc his damage potential vs gonna get blown up potential is pretty low. Rudor or even Black squadron with Dengar would probably be more helpful.

Tie Defenders and their inability to hit/crit will always be more effective vs squads than ships. Your bombing damage is actually pretty low, and most of your "bombers" will want to commit hard to the squad fight before they shoot ships. When it comes to Rhymer, generic tie bombers are still the bread and butter to build your damage.

What you have here is 134 points of anti squadron with a secondary bomber component. Probably good against Rieekan Aces, but not going to win the day against a low squadron fleet. Tycho and Shara with a couple of A's will tear into this hard.

Tempest had a black bomber. It is essentially a Tie Bomber with escort.

Its everything a TIE Advanced is, With Bomber added.

The Bomber keyword is handy. Increases damage against ships and allows for BCC re-rolls.

hahah let's keep quoting Democratus and rack up his notifications

New list with the feedback

Stele

Ryhmer

Dengar

Jendon

Tempest squadron

Tie advanced

2 x tie defender

I'm partial to:

I've always found without escort Dengar to get nuked right away ?

without multiple sources of escort haha.

I have a new respect for Morna Kee after worlds. She is really really good.

since we are sharing large squadron loadouts I ran this at worlds and would change very very little about it. It got the better of every matchup I was thrown against. Saber squadron was my "Most Jendon'd" squadron of the tournament, and absolutely destroyed any sort of aura bubble they tried to build. Jan never lasted longer than a round.

Maarek Stele

Jendon

Valen Rudor

Saber Squadron

Jumpmaster5000

Major Rhymer

Gamma Squadron

Tie Bomber

Lambda Shuttle

Relay 4, strategic, Rhymer along with 3 black and 2 blue bomber plus Jendon meant it was dangerous for ships with huge threat range, Snipe and Rudor meant it was more or less immune to counter and had huge AS vs both generics and aces, a decent amount of non-heavy to tie squads down, and the jumpmaster isn't a big point sink so if they jump my screen to target it I am not sad about it dying. It was an awesome multipurpose screen.

I like it a lot.

How did Valen perform? I'm thinking it may be worth it to swap him out for some Zyrtek. Protects saber while it snipes.

Edit (realize you like the "non-counterability of him.")

Valen was a champ, seriously, he is awesome. I wasn't sold on him initially because takes a little bit (ok a fair amount) of practice to get the hang of. But his chance of dealing 3 damage is excessive between the black dice and swarm. 3 is the perfect total for brace aces and slaughters generics. If you have to slug through a scatter squadron this is a guaranteed burn of the token (looking at you Tycho and Shara. Valen and a double tap Saber REALLY ruin their day)

Add to that the fact he is immune to counter from an engaged squad, is fast, has a brace and a scatter himself so he isn't helpless if he gets exposed, and is super cheap for what you get (seriously, black dice w/reroll, attack immunity, brace and scatter for only 13 points!?) and he is the complete package. You just have to make sure he can't get picked off.

Honestly, I would probably nominate him for top 3 best overall Imperial squadrons just because of the incredible versatility and impact he brings to the game.

Hey rebel players get your fighter balls in here

Where are the Tie Phantoms?

SOLD.

I really like it. I am going to see how I can fit in Zertik though. @Ginkapo 's solid advice is to escort Saber. If not, it typically gets super nuked. I do think that currently, Jendon, Stele and Saber are fantastic starting points to build a squad list around.

I could see jendon, stele, saber, valen, Tempest, and maybe Gama? the 6th is what I'm having trouble with....that's a solid 89 pts right there....I guess if you wanted to swap out a plain jumpy for gama. That would be 91.

Dengar instead of plain jumpy for gama is 99...hhhmmmm....

NVM, I don't like Dengar in there....this will take some finessing

I tried to get escort in but ended up going completely without it. Zyrtik would be a great addition for sure. I had black squadron in there until the NIGHT BEFORE worlds when I decided to drop him and another generic tie bomber for the the jumpmaster and a bit of a bid because intel I decided was more useful than escort.

Saber definitely had a target on his head, and died in many games, but because of snipe I could always tie them down with the jumpmaster/gamma/maarek/rudor and keep Saber back. By the time they got to him, he had already done his damage and at 12 points I never really felt like the cost to get him was worth the effort expended.

The trick is not get greedy and try to Alpha with him and leave him hanging out there to be engaged with. Rudor and Saber brought up the read of my ball, typically even behind my bombers, and would only jump in once I had everything more or less secured so they could be protected.

Waiting for Sloane to make them utterly terrifying.

I got Rebel balls here. Uh...

Luke/Wedge/Biggs

Gold/Green/Dagger

Norra

+your choice of <21 point squad. Around a slow fleet, Ten Nunb is good Jan is nice. Rogue squad has a home too.

With Ten, 8 bombers, all of which can fight squads (Gold kinda sucks there). Anything short of a dedicated Imp assassin list won't beat it outright. Does not need Rieekan with the sheer amount of HP. Hilarious with Dodonna.

I am going to loot some of these Rhymer balls though.

Missing Dutch. In the current state of affairs his auto damage is just too good to not bring along. Dutch was my most feared Rebel squadron at Worlds.
