Why would anyone do such a thing when Scum is so very fun??

Because we're all suckers for Admiral Sloane.

And they'll still lose.
Do you think people choose not to take them because they dislike them? They choose not to take them because they're not competitive.
But what the OP means is the more people who take them, the less other lists are taken that can beat them.
But it'll never work, because then everyone will go "well then, I'll be the minority to take Rebel/Scum and then beat all the imps!" and then the Imperials become the minority again lol
I've won the last three tournaments at my FLGS, and two of those have been with Imperial list (well, First Order to be entirely accurate), so they're doing OK for me. ![]()
(Admittedly, this isn't exactly at a top competitive tier, and one of those was an eight player event, but still...)

I think majority of people complaining still do. It won't change the tournament results, when rebels were at it's all time low, people still brought them, they just didn't make the cuts. The elite players will continue to play elite lists no matter the faction.
I understand that the faction split at Worlds was actually not that bad overall, but that the Imperial players just couldn't power through the rest of the field to the extent only one made the final cut.

Pretty much, the top 4 each year pretty much will prove that out...

He means take them and set them up as a side board. Ya know, for display purposes.

You have to take into account the effect of MOV as well. There were three of us flying Imperials that went 7-2 and had a chance at the cut. Only one had the MOV to make it in.
Imperials are in a rough spot, definitely. But as a faction we have to continue trying until a new FAQ comes out. I took Imperials to Worlds and had no idea I would be as successful as I ended up being. My biggest takeaway was that people still severely underestimate the TIE/sf. Keep pushing and I'm sure you'll be surprised at your success.

Well I just blogged about my TIE/sf squad that I like and did well with at local GNK. I agree it's underrated.

But it's also very easy to mistake the outliers that prove a rule for evidence that the rule doesn't apply.

Certainly. But there were many TIE/sfs that also made 6-3. People are flying them and doing well. The thing is that the best players in the World are flying Scum so those are the lists that end up making the cut. The problem with Imperials right now is that they're the most balanced faction.

Oh, you changed your handle!

Why of course... Only when imperials under-perform is when they are "most balanced".
But I heard that they still won a store in Utah, so maybe we aren't at perfect balance yet. Maybe one or two more nerfs to achieve absolute perfection.

I started out 5-0 at World's and was ranked #2 with my Quickdraw, Inq, and Gamma Vet list (and I don't run LWF) and had the highest SoS at that point (every single one of my opponents made day 2). Unfortunately, things went downhill from there, losing my next four games, but I don't feel too badly about it as 2 of them were two of the best in the World (Duncan Howard and Paul Heaver), 2 made top 16 and the other made top 32. It was a gauntlet for me both days and I think I could adjust my target priority to play better in two of those losses. I've topped 2 local tourneys with the list and someone else just won a third with it.
Anyway, the gist of it is that I do think there are options but that Imperials, even their current strong builds, have a much more razor thin margin of error.

So you were the guy with the crazy Imperial alpha list! I saw that list at the top tables and was amazed that it was doing so well. Great job! I myself went 7-2 with QD/OL/Vessery, my two losses being to Duncan and Mishary.
I definitely agree that Imperials have a much smaller margin of error. I mostly blame the power level of Scum though, with a little bit of influence from Rebel bombing. Scum is just so much more efficient at the things Imperials are traditionally good at while being more resilient to Rebel counters. I think if we saw a Scum power level drop, we'd see more Imperial success.

I was, and thanks! Congrats on a good showing yourself.
I think that it's true their are some more efficient cards in other factions, but I also think it's important to note (and I've said this elsewhere) that they have more upgrade cards (Imperials have half as many unique upgrades) and upgrade slots to work with which is no small matter in a game that is becoming more and more about card combinations creating efficiencies.

I was curious about the list myself, as I also flew a alpha strike list with TIE Bomber (but I opted for Tomax Bren) at Worlds and ended up 6-3 (however I started with 4-3 record, so I never had a chance for getting to top 32 despite good MoV). I feel that the imperial alpha strike lists are currently somewhat underestimated.

Yep. But the way he said it sounds so much more. . .motivational.

Exactly! Everybody likes them, or is just jealous of them, or has an issues with authority but the Empire itself is wonderful.
I mean that with absolutely no sarcasm.

lol, talk about missing the point.![]()
No the number of imperial lists brought to worlds doesn't matter. We don't want to see more Imperial lists at worlds, we want to see more Imperials players make the top cut. Unless you have a tournament where all but 4 lists are imperials, bringing more imperial lists won't make that happen!

Severly underestimated IMO. They might not have the same hitting power as Scum Alpha but they definitely have a much better endgame because they are 3 ship lists rather than 2 and one of those ships can be a cleanup ship.
Seriously does anyone really want go face Jax or QD (Shields up) in the endgame. Yes there is the fat Rebel ship problem but an alpha strike list should be trying to eliminate that threat in the same way that they should be trying to get bombs on fragile Aces.
Scum is OTT efficiency, it also does Ace play better right now. Many Imperial players have switched over. It's definitely the most popular faction and that is a factor. It might not be the only factor but it is a factor.
