Print out paper cards for new upgrades

By totalnoob, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Am I the only one who just printed out the skirmish upgrades and made a Vader deck? Since I am cheap and didn't buy the Jawa pack - I also printed out a version of the IG-88 fix for my daughter to use with her bounty hunter list. :) Those ink jet printed paper cards looked great next to our nicely sleeved regular cards

I think If you're playing socially go nuts, it's only at some formal competitions you will find people who care about that. Especially when they are so stingy with giving out double elites.

Yeah it depends where you go, though. I know that I'd personally have no problem if someone wanted to use a home-printed version of a card. I'd double-check to make sure that it's accurate first, but otherwise I'd have no problem with it at all.

lol - I wasn't planning on going anywhere with these printed cards, it was just for our fun home weekend "tournament" with my kids. I wanted to see how the "new" Vader played - and it was.........*awesome*. Plus my daughter likes to play the Mercs, so I told her they gave IG-88 some new abilities and printed out his upgrade too. My son got BT-1 on thursday, so we didn't want to be left out with having some new toys :)

We were laughing how we have everything nicely setup and sleeved, etc -then these janky paper cards on the table next to everything. :D

Anyway, was just wondering if anybody else did something similar at home to take the new stuff for a spin.

I printed out Onar and Vinto and Shyla's cards months before they were released so the kids and I could play them.

have fun!

I never really printed out any early material per se, but I've saved images to my phone before when testing something out at the proxy stage before the actual material was released.

As always, as long as you're not rolling into a tournament or any kind of structured league, you should have no problem playing around like that, especially if it's just playing at home with your family.

Last night on vassal, we were playing the new droid stuff as proxies since it hasn't been updated yet. I ran Blaise as BT-1 and my friend ran Ugnaughts as regular Jawas. Proxies are always fun for practice :)

Nothing wrong with proxies to practice.. but once the actual product is released if you do decide to just 'proxy' or at this point I would say pirate, you are only hurting yourself and the community. The less sales the less popular a game is the less attention it gets and the shorter its life span.

Before the soap boxers get out their pitch forks, I am not picking a guy who wants to play in his basement with his daughter, I am talking in general terms, what is proper and actually legal.

I've always been of the mind set that if you like something, you should support it. Buy your favourite artists new itunes album, go to the theater to see a new movie, buy local beer.. etc.. but to each their own, I guess it just depends what your conscience lets you get away with and the example you want to lead with for your children.

I'm sure the OP will eventually get a Jawa and have the real IG-88 fix soon enough.

I'm with you 100%. Support artists, support people that make good products and also provide ongoing support of said products. I have purchased the core set and a handful of figure packs, since January - so I am a new customer. I have been extremely pleased with my purchase. We have played I don't even know how many hours already - so I feel like I have received tremendous value for my roughly $150 spent on IA goods thus far.

I like video games as much as anyone - but if I can drop $60 on a Xbox game or $60 on IA gear - I would prefer the latter every time. It's been such a great experience that we can all enjoy as a family. Having fun, spending time with the kids AND minimizing kids electronics time at the same time? Yes please.

I am looking forward to purchasing Hoth and more figures in the coming months (I thought my daughter wanted Leia, but NO - she wants the big ugly Bantha Rider!!). It's great to see the game continuing to expand with all of the recent announcements.

And yes, at some point I bet a Jawa pack will make its way to my house :D

I am of two minds about this. I don't like to pirate gaming stuff unless it's old, long out of print stuff, that no one is losing money on. But some of these upgrade cards are kind of like a software patch for a bug and should be free or at least able to be purchased very cheaply without a figure. Otherwise it paves the way to some very crass marketing gimmicks. At the very least for example, the IG-88 "fix" should be included in all future print runs of the IG-88 figure and core game, if there even are any, as I don't know how their supply chain works.

And you actually have something when you're done even if it's just weird little home painted toys.

Hoth is the best expansion. I always say, if you can only buy the core game and one other Imperial Assault SKU#, buy Return to Hoth. The boxed expansions are a great dollar value compared to an equal amount of money spent on blister packs of guys so you will be flooded with figures and maps when you get it!

I hope the next small box expansion is Return to Hoth II: Leia Forgot Her Purse And We Have To Go Back Again.

I would have been inclined to agree with you before Jabba's Realm came out. To me that's the hand's down best one to get currently. Whether you're playing Skirmish or Campaign, those 3 heroes are great, and you get a rancor for your troubles.

That's sexist?

Jabba's Realm you also actually get 2 regular deployment cards! Yes, 2 elite would have been nice as well, but it's the first box expansion where they gave more than 1 of each.

Also, Chewy carries a purse.

Maybe find someone who bought 6 Jawas and has 5 extra upgrade cards he may be willing to part with?

Bespin started that trend. Just sayin'

Also, while I'm correcting you, Chewie carries a stylin' messenger bag. It's totally not the same thing at all.

LMAO! I stand corrected.

SMH. It's a very tame joke and in no way sexist. Unless you want to be offended by it, by all means, go ahead. That's your prerogative.

From the forum rules:

4. Treat everyone (users or not) with respect, while enjoying the freedom to disagree with their ideas.

SMH. I'm not sure what was funnier...the fact that you brushed it off as a "tame joke", or that it was about a character who was created by George Lucas as a role model for women.

I personally was not offended, but I didn't think your joke was funny anyway.

My joke?

This in no way breaks that Forum Rule 4:

Return to Hoth II: Leia Forgot Her Purse And We Have To Go Back Again.

You're really grasping here.

Totally agree. It was your insensitive response to one of our members. I'm not one that's easily offended, but leads to a slippery slope on a forum meant to discuss a fun game. Personally I would have just said sorry I offended you, it was not intentional (as obviously you were kidding). But to tell him to essentially "deal with it" is surprising.

You're still confusing me with TauntaunScout who said the joke about Leia's purse. Get it together, man!

Yes, I see what you mean. It's Friday. I've embarrassed myself. Let's just virtual hug it out an move on?

xoxo. No hard feelings.

Chewie isn't in Return to Hoth. So him forgetting his purse wouldn't be a reason to go back.
