Your latest deck battles: A place to discuss your latest games and decks

By MandoBard, in Star Wars: Destiny

Figured it was worth trying to start a thread like this. I know we are all willing to discuss and help others refine their decks. Decided to create a thread to talk about your latest deck, tell your recent results, and ask for help when needed. I personally try a new deck most weeks.

First local tourney was last night, I was the only one rolling with new characters, but plenty of new cards(especially Vibroknives) were in play. Did a Palp/Royal Guard, more for thematic purposes than winning, but I managed to beat all 3 of the other players, and beat Jango/Raider/Raider(cargo Hold), Quigon/Rebel Trooper/Rebel Trooper(give a shield), and a Han/Luke(cargo hold). First two focused on Palp, and while they dealt some good damage, they were down to one character by the time Palp got anywhere near critical, and the royal guard was nearly untouched. The latter was the youngest player, but super strong deck, managed to take down my royal guard, then I got his Han, my Palp had 5 health left, and he had a Falcon out, when I just barely took out his Luke.

Palp is a real blast to play, and I imagine how powerful the Elite version must be. Palp/Royal Guard has pretty solid chemistry, and Palp almost always causing damage definitely speed things up.

Here's my list, Cargo Hold(move an upgrade) was my battlefield:

Lightsaber X2

Immoblize

Force Lightning

Mind Probe

Abandon All Hope X2

Vibroknife

Trust your Instincts

Rejuvenate X2

Makashi Training

Nowhere to run

The Price of Failure

High ground

No Disintegrations X2

Aim

Force Push

Intimidate X2

Force training

Dodge

Block

Lightsaber Pike

Doubt

Power of the darkside

Swiftness

Isolation

Now You Will Die

I mean you have to do Doubt in a Palpatine deck, may trade out a lightsaber, or something for a second Now you Will die, which is super effective on Palp

Planning on doing a new yellow villian, maybe a mixed deck next, and a new hero deck. So have any decks you want to share? any advice on mine? how'd it do in your last tournament?

Vader/Raider has been pretty good but it has gotten boring quick. I switched to Vader/Guard but have not tested it. On the other hand my Poe/ Leia has been a lot of fun. When it wins, it wins big. When it gets shut down it gets shut down big. I love Leia! She always comes through for me. She is the Red Rey, works in many situations and decks. I have my Rey/ Qui-Gon deck ready to go but have not tested it yet. Same with my Jango/FN-2199.

Taught a guy how to play yesterday, was using a pair of new decks I whipped up, ESing/Fett with me using Jyn/Luke. Managed to take out my Luke in 2 turns, without knowing all advanced rules(forgot to teach him about upgrade swaps), with me only dealing 6 damage to Jango. Managed to get both Lone Operatives onto Jyn, and take out Jango. Would have kept it going for a while, but he managed to destroy my hand and get me out that way(2 LO can extend things a while). Both decks were solid, but my J/L needed fair trade more than the S/F, but I only have 2 copies XD. Can't wait to try out both at a tourney though, both look to be solid

Went against Poe, Max this weekend with my Jango, Veers. The first game I didn't loose any characters and the second he killed Veers. People talk about speed but when Jango is hot. Still I have had off days, after all it is a dice game. I watched Vader not role damage for 2 turns and empty his hand both times trying.

I played this Luminara/Rey deck at a small tournament last week:

I beat an eLuke/Rey, a mill deck with eUnkar/Deathtrooper/Stormtrooper, and an eMothma/Padawan/Padawan deck before losing in the last round to ePalpatine. I also beat a number of decks with it in casual play, after which I stopped playing it (it's not fun to always use Force Speed and Vibroknife to win before your opponent even gets to play)

I created an eLeia/Baz deck over the weekend. Two Overkills and two A180 blasters along with wingman. I was dealing out between 7 and 15 damage each round. My daughter took out Baz, but by then I had the second copy of Overkill and an A180 blaster on my Leia so she finished things off. I think it went 5 rounds though...need to find some more red/neutral upgrades/supports to round out things, I think. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid deck.

I've been thinking about making this deck too, seems like a fun idea.

If I had another copy of Baz, I think I'd try eBaz/Leia. But it seemed to work quite well this way...my daughter zeroed in on Baz and hit him with everything she had because she assumed he was the bigger threat...he's tough enough, though, that I had plenty of time to beef up Leia.

My best deck so far surprisingly has been Poe and Snap. If you roll Poe's special enough and have weapon's and vehicles in hand, it is very hard for your opponent to deal with the damage. The deck is not as consistent as Poe and MAZ but has more attack and ability to deal damage. The secret weapons are to disrupt your opponents resources while you set up and claim Emperor's Throne Room with Planetary Uprising. This is the first deck I have played from the light side that did not get destroyed by Vader. I manages to win 2 out of 3 games. Big improvement over the 12-3 record I had with Qui-Gon/Rey.
