GenCon opens at 12pm on Wednesday and the convention center is twenty-four hours up until it closes at 4pm on Sunday. The trade hall though has different opening hours - generally 10am-6pm/4pm on Sunday. Events start from the moment it opens, but most companies wait until Thursday morning to run things.

Their website says Aug 17-20. That is a Thursday thru Sunday. But the FFG table will probably first be opened at 1000 Thursday?

Yes.

The vendor booth will be 10 AM on the Thursday. At 9 AM the VIPs will get in.

Gencon is also on Wednesday but that is more for industry insiders than general public.

You can also collect your badge and tickets from Will Call anytime after 12pm on Weds - just be prepared to queue, but don't be scared off by theimmense line as it moves quickly.

Launch of L5R AND 50years of GenCon, I can hardly see how 4 days will be enough

My son starts high school... I feel ya. Wish they were having it last weekend of July like they did 2 years ago.

Most years it is, but as this is the fiftieth anniversary, they decided to hold it on the same weekend as the original convention.
