Bit of a random musing but it could make a difference...

Lets say there are 5 damage cards all lined up face down and I use precision strike to flip the middle card which turns out to be structural damage. My opponent takes the extra damage and the card is flipped down. Are the damage cards then reordered or anything that would prevent me from just farming that card over and over with each following shot?

Yes. Facedown damage card are hide info for both players so, after triggering PS the damage card would be shuffled to guarantee they still being hiden.

From the FAQ

Hidden information is any information about the game, game state, or ships unavailable to one or more players. This includes facedown damage cards (even if they were previously faceup) , facedown maneuver dials, cards within the damage deck, etc.

A player cannot learn hidden information without the aid of a game effect, rule, or another player verbally communicating the information.

They are not derived information even when the fact that the ship has structural damage between its damage card does. Following the last paragraph of hide info in order to know what damage card IS structural damage you would need another effect that allow you to look before flipping what, right now, doesn't exist.

Precision Strike has one word in it, that everyone seems to gloss over, that is vastly important.

It doesn't matter what exact method you use to choose the Card, as long as that Card be randomly chosen... Even if you have a way of looking at the Card Face-Up another time .... The card is randomly chosen, so it doesn't matter, anyway!
