We have been playing this skirmish map this weekend (B - Abandoned Research). It's been pretty crazy especially with BT-1. After picking up these weapons 4 and 5 die attacks were being thrown around like nothing. Really feel like no figure is safe! IG-88 with the double attack+ focus + extra weapon sliced through my Obi Wan like butter. Not sure if anyone else had a chance to play that map yet, would be curious on your thoughts.
BT-1 B skirmish mission
not yet, I've played the Jawa map a couple of times and I actually like the door swivel action. This is why I feel the maps rotate too quickly, we essentially gloss over several cool maps in competitive play jumping from one set to another.
Well, I can see how the hardcore competitive play folks would throw up in their mouth a little with this map/mission.
but for casual home play, it was pretty fun.
Casual play is the best play![]()
Ever since they started coming out with the nice playmats it's been harder to bring myself to play the other cool missions available.
Because I'm lazy and don't wanna deal with my tiles if I don't have to. ![]()
playing this one now. Have a question on the weapon placement. The map shows 4 weapons in position. The mission card states to take turns to place 1 weapon (initiative order) until 8 weapons are placed in a "B" space without a weapon.
Does this mean that 8 more weapons are placed? or that 4 more are placed, since 4 start on the map?

A sneak preview for you folks. I tried to make the wording clearer:

Abandoned Research (B Scenario):
QuoteIn order of initiative, players take turns placing a colored Experimental Weapon token in a space marked with an X on the mini-map without a weapon until 8 weapons are placed. Limit 2 weapons of each color.
A figure can retrieve a Weapon Token but may only carry one. When a figure carrying a Weapon Token declares an attack, add 1 attack die of that Weapon's color to the attack pool. Limit once per activation.
End of each Round: Each player gains 2 VPs for each console he controls.
Note the limit once per activation for adding an attack die with the Weapon Token. So IG doesn't get it on both attacks.

This gets pretty crazy fast, as BT-1 and IG-88 (upgraded bot) can get some insane rolls going. Even if IG only gets the extra die for one attack, having another (standard) attack after that Starkiller Base attack is pretty tough. It was a fun map to play though, and does create some interesting thought on what weapons to place where. If a powerful figure gets a red weapon.....run!!!! ![]()
We also played it so that if a figure had the extra weapon and was defeated - that weapon was dropped in the square where he was and could be retrieved by another figure. Not sure if you are supposed to take them off the board once the figure carrying them is defeated. The "visual" of weapons just lying around and being picked up and dropped as characters were getting blown away was kind of funny ![]()
Yes, when a figure is defeated, all tokens it is carrying (see Retrieving) are dropped into the space it occupied (controller's choice if a large figure).

When we do testing on whether AI has "arrived" and whether machines have surpassed human intelligence - the litmus test should be as follows.
Write an AI bot that parses messages in these forums and can reply with proper FFG rulings with citations from rule books or emails with FFG staff.
Until AI can do that as well and efficiently as @a1bert we don't need to fear the droids. ![]()
