A bit gimmicky based on stealing tokens.

What is the biggest threat to this? I'm thinking this list is best when it can focus on one or two ships. (how rare for x wing.)

Has anyone tried anything similar?

Hah! That's totally fair. I actually ended up playing against a very similar list the other day. It was a bit of a slaughter.

So yeah, not all ideas are good ideas.
