I'm talking about the ability of Zertik Strom with a friend, he's arguing that Strom's ability does work also on self, because is at distance 1 from himself, but the correct wording is " another friendly squadron..", this tell me that his ability cannot target Strom, only other sqadrons at distance 1.

You've got it right. If it just said "a friendly squadron at distance 1," he could just plink himself; the "another" excludes himself.
