Could we get Twin laser cannon one day?

How would you guys feel if FFG would give us Twin Laser Cannon?

I would imagine that it would be similar to TLT. Two attacks with 3 dice and if you hit you would do only 1 damage, range 2-3. There is possibility already for Y-Wing to do that with TLT and BTL tittle. Price should be around 5-6p..

That would mean that TIE Defenders would be able to take them, Aggressors, YT-2400 with tittle and Scyk with many other ships.

Would this kinda Cannon bring balance or unbalanced to X-Wing? :ph34r:

I'd prefer Heavy Laser Turret ?

On one hand, I would be ok with it.

On the other, it'd kill the diversity of cannons. Nobody would ever fly a different one, with the exception of maybe Dash (though basically getting an expensive tlt he might still do it)

I came up with a cannon sort of similar to what you're talking about for the HWK during a HoTAC campaign. It's essentially a btl sort of upgrade that limits firing to the front arc only. I called it fixed heavy laser turret. It's a 4 dice attack, but the damage output is only limited to a max of 2 hits. It worked well because of the limitation of the HWKs dial.

How do you avoid the *it storm of people who already complain about TLT BREAKING THE GAME!!!! ! or would restricting the exact same ability to a single firing arc magically make it all better? I'm guess to avoid those complaints you'd better price it at LEAST as high as the HLC is prices because now you're throwing SIX dice at a target instead of just four; who care that this TLC could only cause two points of damage while the HLC can cause four because everyone knows that a consistent two damage output is broken.

Would it be better to have 2 attacks with 2 dice each?

It might not be a bad idea to talk about the effectiveness of a HLC vs TLC Dash, actually. Any new cannon probably ought to go through that treatmemt.

I've thought about this a lot. Maybe attack 2, repeated once for every point of agility the defender has. That would tend to minimize the damage against low agility ships, (B-Wings would only face 2 of those attacks, and Decimators would only face the initial attack) but would hopefully let you get some work done against Squints or Fangs- they would face 3 or 4 attacks of 2 dive each. Should be good to- at least! strip a few tokens.

And 3 points so it can go on a /D for 5 attacks! ?

My previous post should have been taken as a healthy dose of sarcasm as I don't have an issue with the TLT but spend too much time on the board and it seems like some consider it to be "the worst/most broken upgrade card in all of X-Wing" at least at present.

Now to take the TLT model and cut it from 3 dice for 1 damage if it hits to 2 dice for 1 damage if it his REALLY destroys the effectiveness in it. You'd need to make it "afterthought" cheap as the Mangler would get you more damage on average against just about everything and people rarely use that. It may land some damage on the low/no agility ships but against higher agility/defense you're just looking at throwing out a bunch of misses. A criticism of the TIE Swarm is that it has a hard time dealing enough damage to punch through some defenses but using two shots w/ two dice each is just more of the same.

There might need to be a clause like "if the Defender has agility of 3 or more, they may not modify their dice durring this attack".

Also how about missile turret? Gives you missile slot and ability to fire missiles out of arc.

IMHO that should have been Quin Jast's ability instead of infinite missiles/torpedoes. Seriously you have a small Scyk carrying more munitions than a TIE Punisher.

In fairness, it does make about as much sense as the "I have this crane bolted to my ship which can pluck UXO out of still burning wreckage, take it on board, load it, prime it, and have it miraculously be compatible with my systems" machine. I've stopped looking for even a shred of explanation with these things long ago.

That said, dear sweet suffering diety does the Punisher need a title that gives unlimited ordnance. Whatever about miracle systems for other ships, the Punisher is literally four Bombers stapled to a cockpit. Why is it only feasible to load it out with the same as a base Scimitar?!
