Quickdraw Questions

By Sasajak, in X-Wing Rules Questions

First time I ran Quickdraw (TIE/SF) with Spec Ops last night and a few questions came up in the heat of battle so we made some quick decisions but not necessarily the right ones so I'd appreciate some input.

  1. Quickdraw was defending against Cluster Missile in the first phase of the attack she lost a shield. We decided, to keep things moving along and we'd work it out later, that she could trigger her ability before the second phase of the attack but not against the attacker (please bear with me you'll see why!). So first of all would the first phase of the attack trigger her ability? The card says "after you lose a shield" not after an attack but does it interrupt a two phase attack? And if it does trigger and kill the attacker do they get to perform the second half of the attack before being removed from play?
  2. Do range modifiers apply to attacks from the Auxiliary arc? We decided it could since it was a primary attack but want to check this is the case. Neither of us are familiar with Aux arc primaries.
  3. Can Quickdraw fire at two targets (one from Front and ons from Aux arc) when her ability is triggered? Hypothetical as never came up (well I could have done so when defending against the Clusters but decided not to to avoid a long debate). I thought she could as it's a primary attack and Spec Ops would kick in but my opponent wasn't so sure.

Think that was it... So we made non-optimal decisions in the heat of the moment knowing we'd reflect on them but what do you think?

By the way she is a blast to play!

1. As per the Attack Flowchart in the FAQ, both Cluster Missiles and TLT and any other weapon that says "Perform this attack twice" count as one attack and all abilities that trigger as a result of that attack happen after both 'sub attacks' are resolved. So QD would get the revenge shot after both cluster missile attacks are done.

2. Yes. It is a primary weapon attack.

3. Yes. Pulling it off is glorious.

Thanks @KommanderKeldoth that's helpful. We thought about looking at the flow chart but it was the last round and just thought let's make something up, worry later and do it right next time :D

Per the FAQ entry of Quickdraw, if she loses a shield during an attack, her ability is resolved at step 9 of the flowchart.

So yes, after both cluster missiles

Which, notably, also means she gets to shoot even if the second attack destroys her.

That's very interesting!

WJ, I believe Step 9 isn't reached until after the second attack is completed.

That's... what he said...

I took his response to mean that QDs ability procs after each CM attack. My bad.

Coffee still brewing.
