What is this in the Store Champion kit ?

Dodonna - £49.99

GR75 - £17.99

I mean fair enough. Sell them if you have spares after a tournament but to do this before it has even happened seems a bit much

Dodonna could be worlds players looking to recoup some of the tournament costs.

That "objective token" looks more to me like an acrylic equivalent of the challenge coins of tournaments past.

Anyone else weirdly bummed that the plaque doesn't indicate Store Championship at all?

What annoys me is they keep plastering "17" all over the place now days

Just wait until next year... "18" is much worse! ;):D

Yup, its even rounder and takes up more space on the card, noooooooo!!!

What bums me out about the plaque is it's a stupid rebel gr75. Such rebel bias!

Is it a paperweight to keep the objective card from migrating, and to place the victory tokens/turn counter on?

I dunno, this is a weird mystery.

But I think I want it.

Sorry, but, that seems a little pointless then(if that's the case). Would be much better if they did special objective-specific tokens, like alt-art tokens for popular objectives(same circular tokens but with different art corresponding to the objective)(e.g. Medal token for "Advanced Gunnery" ships, mine tokens for "Minefields", data/intel tokens for "Intel Sweep" and "Navigational Hazards", hyperspacey-lightspeed-looking-art tokens for "Hyperspace Assault", tokens with "Wanted!" or "$$" for "Most Wanted", cargo tokens for "Salvage Run" and "Blockade Run")

FFG did something similar to this for last year's Worlds prizes - 3 sets of 2 acrylic tokens with the objective symbol on it, done in the color of that objective. So they're more like generic objective markers really. Great for marking the Most Wanted ships, or Intel Sweep ships, etc. Not specific to those objectives like your comment describes, but usable for that purpose. There are a couple sets on eBay right now if you want to see what they look like.

Those white ones? Yes they did those well. ;)

But I am still of the opinion that if they did special objective tokens for popular objectives much like how they do alt-art for popular upgrades, people will be all over them. And they are quite fitting as they would help to boost one's game thematically rather than having to imagine the objective token as the thing which it is representing. Add a rules card for each set of tokens that says these tokens can be used in place of the original objective tokens so users can whip it out to TOs to avoid any shenanigans. (E.g. when playing the "salvage run" or blockade run" scenario, all ((original image)) objective tokens may be swapped out for ((cargo image)) objective tokens.) I'll email a suggestion to ffg and hope they reply me :)

Not the white ones, the red/yellow/blue rectangles - well I guess the paint is white, but I'm not talking about the white acrylic objective tokens. The ones from worlds last year are different. They were top 16 prizes as well as team tournament prizes. You can see what I mean in the bottom right corner of the picture: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/10/20/rule-the-galaxy/

But yeah specific acrylics for each objective card that uses them is fun.

Fair enough if this is the case....totally understandable.....but the GR75 hasnt been released yet and it's from the same seller so I assume that's not the case.

Although I have been known to be wrong.....from time to time. Haha

The symbol is a little spikey-store with 17 in the middle.... :D (Totally get what you're saying - I wish it said 'Winner' or 'Champion' instead of leaving it as a 'You Got It, You Must Be It' assumption)

I'm actually okay with the markings on them - it answers so many questions people are bombarding me, as the "old armada guy" about previous Alt-Art... IE, which Kits what stuff came in...

What is the upgrade card that everyone gets going to be? So far FFG has been pretty good at giving out something that is the current hotness as an AA for upgrades. FCT?

I assume the top 32 will get the Transport card, that's the only thing that's there that fits in the kit as everything else is accounted for

Traditionally the alt-art unit cards are limited to top spots, altho I think for last regionals the Corvette was the alt-art everyone got so you might be right...

Settled:

  • Top 32 – An alternate art version of the upgrade card GR-75 Medium Transports. Since their release, flotillas have become an incredibly common sight in most fleets and often contribute far more strategic options than their costs would indicate.
  • Top 8 - Five acrylic Evade tokens. Small ships in Star Wars: Armada often depend on good maneuvering or timely use of their defense tokens to survive. These double-sided tokens will show your expertise in keeping these ships in the battle.
  • Top 4 - A double-sided, two-color acrylic range ruler—a cornerstone tool of the game.
  • Top 2 - A printed acrylic Assault Objective token. Assault objectives typically focus on destroying an important ship or target. Use this token to mark which ship your fleet wants to hunt down!
  • First Place - A printed art plaque to commemorate your victory and a first-round bye card that is valid at any 2017 or 2018 Star Wars: Armada Regional Championship!

To be fare the Dodonna cards are not part of the official prize, they are an add on, also a lot of the stores know they have not got 32 places. Personally I think any store not including the Dodonna cards are taking the p..s, I also think any store with 16 or less players should give out 2 GR75 cards. It's not like the kits cost that much and at £10-15 per ticket they should easily get their money back. But that's just how I have always played it when TOing.

Fundamentally though:
- None of the cards should be sold by Stores.
- None of the kits are available to the public.

To have GR75s on Ebay before today, means that, basically... A Store Somewhere has done the wrong thing.

because no member of the public has any access to legitimately gain the GR75 card until a Store Championship is run, and Store Championships can only be run from Today - 13MAY2017, until basically the End of August.

One of the keys and, basically, the only requirement for Store Championships is, and I quote, "be a store in good standing."

The fastest way to lose good standing is to be caught misusing prize kits.

Losing good standing can not only lose you access to OP prize kits across all of FFG's games, it can actually drive up your FFG Wholesale price, as they strip discounts from you.

Prizes should first and foremost be distributed - at a minimum - as per the prize kit requirements. Any prizes in excess of those are to be retained by the store and used as additional incentive prizes from that point on... They are at store discretion, but they are never allowed to be subject to retail sale.

Had to necro this thread. I played in a tournament this weekend where these tokens were discussed and @Dameon13 reached the wonderful conclusion that these tokens are really shot glass coasters. I see this as a clear sign that the next campaign will include official rules for Armada the drinking game and I for one can't wait.
