Is it the swarmleader one, the crack version or a third i dont know about?
Best trip defenders list?
For me they all perform about the same....so really well, but not auto win.
You can just about build any three you like in any way your style prefers and do juuuuust a bit above average.
My standard was ...
1-Delta
2-Ryad with lightning reflexes ( makes her even more squirrelly right at the time they think they have you figured out
3-Brath with expertise.
Lately I've used 2crack glaives and crack Ryad
Next to toy with is ryad vessery glaive all with crack.
And as a side note...Commonwealth is still really good
I used this list and won a local tournament pre-nerf.
Colonel Vessery + TIE/x7 + Swarm Leader
Countess Ryad + TIE/x7 + Adaptability
Glaive Squadron Pilot + TIE/x7 + Trick Shot
If I would fly triple defenders again now, I would probably modify it to:
Colonel Vessery + TIE/x7 + Swarm Leader + Twin Ion Engine Mk. II
Countess Ryad + TIE/x7 + Adaptability
Onyx Squadron Pilot + TIE/x7 + Twin Ion Engine Mk. II
I saw this and think it could be strong.
Def con 4 (99)
Delta Squadron Pilot (29) - TIE Defender
TIE/x7 (-2), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Delta Squadron Pilot (29) - TIE Defender
TIE/x7 (-2), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Delta Squadron Pilot (29) - TIE Defender
TIE/x7 (-2), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Academy Pilot (12) - TIE Fighter
My Favorite, for the moment, is three Delta Squadron Pilots with the TIE/D title, TIE Mk. II Engines, and one each of Tractor Beam, Flechette Cannon, and Ion Cannon.
3 Tie/x7: Swarm Leader Vessery, Ryad and Delta comes in at 96 points.
Remaining 4 points have a number of options... I'd likely go PTL on Ryad, but there's a lot of interesting options (Tie D on Vessery, Delta to Glaive for 3 at Ps 6...)
Three Contracted Scouts.
36 Ryad
(34), PTL (3), /x7 (-2), Tie/Mk2 (1)
36 Vessery
(35), Juke (2), /x7 (-2), Tie/Mk2 (1)
28 Delta Squadron Pilot
(30), /x7 (-2)
Ryad and Delta can both spot for Vessery. Ryad and Vessery are both functionally equivalent to 3 actions per turn. All 3 ships are 6 health behind agility 3 with a free Evade most turns. Ryad is also rather squiggly with he K-Turns.
you have two options.
the best triple defenders list is the one where you take your three defenders, put them on a good sized baking tray, and place them in the centre of a preheated oven at gas mark 6, for 40 minutes. you should be left with three roughly equal pools of grey plastic that look nothing like defenders any more, and an adoring crowd of players thanking you for not ruining their games night/tournament.
alternatively, if you place the three defenders of your choice in the middle of the floor with their cockpits facing upwards, remove your shoes and socks, and jump on them as hard as you can, repeatedly, you should find that the agonizing pain will scourge you of all the pent up self hatred that comes from wanting to run a triple defender list. you also still get the adoring fans to push you around in a wheelchair while your feet recover.
This is THE best TIE Defender list of all time, IMO:
Ahshka Tano (28) - TIE Defender (30) - Title X7 (-2)
Captain Rex (35) - TIE Defender (30), Sabine's Masterpiece (1), Kyle Katarn (3), Push the Limit (3), Title X7 (-2)
Zeb Orrelios (36) - TIE Defender (30), Sabine's masterpiece (1), Sabine (1), Cluster Mines (4), Scavenger Crane (2), Title X7 (-2)
All coming in at a cool 99 points....but you have to wait till fall when it's released by FFG.
Edited by clanofwolvesbecause, well, why not.
If only this were possible in 100 points:
2 x Glaive Squadron Pilots
(34)
Juke
X7
Colonel Vessery
(35)
Swarm Leader
X7
At our LFGS, the Defender list we all have difficulty beating is:
Delta Squadron Pilot
- Tractor Beam
- TIE/D
Delta Squadron Pilot
- Ion Cannon
- TIE/D
Delta Squadron Pilot
- Ion Cannon
- TIE/D
Switching out one of the Ion Cannons for a Flechette Cannon definitely wouldn't hurt and could make this list even more deadly. But the person who's been using this list has had no issues doubling up with Ion Cannon and making everyone terrified to play anything with less than 3 agility dice against him.

That was what I was running to begin with, but added in the Flechette Cannon because of x7 and Attani lists. I had the double Ion Cannon to threaten large base ships, but as @ObiWonka pointed out to me, you can just put one token on them and then dare them to get too close to the board edge.

Sabins Masterpiece is unique

d***, you're right...I didn't really know as I never purchased that ship. I'll give it a change then. Thanks!
Thanks @SEApocalypse , I have been educated; so this is THE best TIE Defender list of all time, IMO:
Ahshka Tano (30) - TIE Defender (30) - Title X7 (-2), Twin Ion MKII (1), Crackshot (1)
Captain Rex (34) - TIE Defender (30), Title D (0), Flechette Cannon (2), Twin Ion MKII (1), Crackshot (1)
Zeb Orrelios (36) - TIE Defender (30), Sabine's masterpiece (1), Sabine (1), Cluster Mines (4), Scavenger Crane (2), Title X7 (-2)
All coming in at a revised 100 points....but you have to wait till fall when it's released by FFG.

Wait, what!? I don't think I understood how ion tokens work on large base ships then. If a large base ship only has one ion token at the beginning of the round, doesn't it still remove it even though it isnt sufficient for an effect?

Nope. It stays on them until they get a second one. Pg. 13 of the TFA rules reference. First bullet point under "Large Ship"

Rex has no EPT slot either
And Sabin's masterpiece is a title, so Zeb is going without the x7 title. You need to focus him down quickly, while taking care of the mines. So minus one MKII
But yeah, can't wait till fall for that release, they will look good alongside my four Sabin's TIEs models. ;-)
I flew
Glave+Preditor x2
Delta
I basically got a focus, evade and 1 almost every turn. I liked the Glaves shooting later since I wanted them to use their focus on defense if they were going to need it and they are almost never 1-shotted.
(the x7's are auto included so not listed)
I think TIE Mk II is pretty much an auto-include on Defenders at this point. Stress shuts them down hard ; you have to have options for clearing it. I've also been leaning pretty heavily towards TIE/D recently. Ever since the nerf, the Defenders have fallen behind in the damage race; a good stress or a good bump absolutely annihilates them. TIE/D increases your damage output and keeps you from being too predictable (which I think is a big part of the Empire's problem right now -- the sf and Defender are their best ships, and both fly pretty predicatbly).

I don't get how you think the SF flies predictably. They have a lot of moves available, they're stress resistant, and with the aux arc, they have lots of area open to them to attack from.

I've heard Rex will have an EPT on his Defender pilot card; plus, they're going to allow the X7 to piggyback on Sabine's Defender Masterpiece Title .
You know, the Rebel's always get the upper hand over the dogs of the game ?
