Birmingham Barons X-Wing Podcast Episode 3

Wednesday is podcast day! We are 3 members of the Birmingham, AL Baron X Wing group, and in the already saturated podcast world we figured, hey, what's another podcast more or less? Join us, three good, maybe great pilots, as we discuss a wide range of topics concerning X Wing and Star Wars in our third episode.

About 45mins in on this episode at the moment. Again a good listen, quickly becoming my favorite podcast. Thought I would share my views on Sabine bombs.

I have not used K wings or sabine myself but flown against them quite a bit. At my local regional (before the nerf) I used an x7 Ryad, quickdraw and Palp list and came against 4 variations of K wing lists in 6 rounds of swiss, I won all 4. The matches would be harder now but I did not feel the sabine K wings were OP, just had to be savvy with flying and target selection. Now I did not use any 3 health ships which really suffer.

I feel that they are actually in a good place and make bombs a viable option in the game which adds variety. The problems lie in that they are the only faction that has a mechanism to spike bomb damage which I feel should be addressed. If all factions had a mechanic to do this it would be fine and bombs would be able to be used by all factions. The main issue with bomb damage is that low health aces die pretty quick, the older ships like interceptors and maybe tie fighters need a cheap way to add an extra point of Hull or a shield without losing the mod slot.

I would say that my main complaint against K-Wing bombers is the invalidation of flimsy ships that rely on green dice to live, so I could be happy with your suggested fix.

On the subject of your regionals experience, I have found while flying Miranda that Quickdraw is actually a huge problem. If I drop a bomb on him, he just shoots me and laughs. Then maybe shoots me again. So if people want to fly something sort of ace-ish and want to hurt Miranda, Quickdraw is worth a look.
