Thank you. I am enlightened. I'm purple... Haha
Now I need to go reread the FAQ

Edited by Rune TaqThe single biggest failing of mine, in that whole thread... in this entire issue ... Was my arrogance in the assumption that there were only two mutually-exclusive interpretations.
Much like I postulated the positions of the Jedi and the Sith.... I ignored the Grey... The Bendu... and such like those...
Perhaps one day, I shall be worthy of forgiveness.
The FAQ seem orange to me. They can activate as a commanded fighter but there "move" was launching. What do they have left... Attack. What am I missing here?

If activated by another ship I think they can move. . . though again, I'm not sure on that part.

Oh so that's true it doesn't say you have to activate them. It says you "can" activate them. So that's the question. Are that activated for that round or not if you just place them and do not attack??????????

You're now missing the Email response we got from Michael Gernes, when that FAQ came out, and the forums collectively went "WTF?"
In which he stipulated that basicallly, the ability to place them from rapid launch is happening because you have a squadron command. And that is all the Upgrade Applies - the ability to place them at the very start of the Squadron Command.
You are then free to use the Squadron Command to activate Squadrons you desire - either the ones you just launched (which can't move), or any other within range of your abilities to do so...

I was in the midst of writing a rather long-winded example of this, so thanks for the quicker, shorter response.
One quick question though: I assume that the 'cannot move' restriction only applies for the squadron command of the ship that placed the squad, right? So if later in the round another ship wants to activated an unactivated, newly-placed squad, that squad can both move and attack as normal?

yes
Wouldn't it be easier to just allow the **** thing to activate normally. I think they made it much more complicated with this email. Silly this is silly. Remember everyone K.I.S.S.
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. it make life so easy.

It can.
The statement basically leaves us with:
Rapid Launch Bays
"When you declare a Squadron Command, pick up set-aside squadrons up to the squadron value you're commanding. Place them within distance 1. If you happen to activate them with
this
squadron activation, they can't move further, but you don't have to. You can activate anyone you could normally, instead."
